While I don’t think French Bread beats out SNK in terms of sprites and special fx, I definitely like it as much, if not more. The biggest difference imo is that SNK’s aesthetic is HD eye candy shit. Idk what it is but the special fx is soooo fucking nice to look at. On the other hand, French Bread’s aesthetic is much more modest. Like everything is going 2.5/3D these days, and while I love those, French Bread is pretty much the last team to still capture that early era of anime fighters. That in itself makes it beyond charming. I grew up on Blazblue and it got me into UNI, how can I not love that art style?

The way this game's announcements have been handled and the information the announcements contain really tell me that French Bread knows what people want to see. KOF15's teaser trailer was just a fucking title drop telling you it was in development and remained that way for a whole year or so . Strive's teaser trailer had gameplay, a new character teaser, and the release year being 2020, a year after it was teased, but we all know now that it had to be delayed due to covid and other complications. Type Lumina's teaser had gameplay and the release year being the same year it was teased with accompanying announcements that it was going to have rollback netcode. That's just the teaser trailers alone. People complained about no PC port, and the game has a PC port now. There's info on the mechanics, and they are legacy mechanics mixed with one or two new ideas. If the game has well-implemented rollback netcode, then this is the standard for how fighting game announcements should be handled for now on. Also, I can't believe French Bread publicly announced Strive's execution date for me.

I'm so happy this is coming to Steam right away, I wish that was in the announcement (and it's only 3 months away, wtf). Their whole approach to marketing also seems perfect for the new Melty, considering they're not trying to make it a fundamentally different game from the original (from what little we know). On flipside of all that, I don't see it picking up any steam outside of the usual audience that was already waiting for it, but I hope I'm wrong. Either way, it's going to be fine if the rollback works, and the game already looks amazing.

@@SaberToothPortilla it started development in 2010 under the prototype name "Melty Blood HD Remake," but development was stopped for a while due to Nasu working on Mahoutsukai no Yoru and French Bread working on Under Night In-Birth judging from this, development probably started again around 2013 or 2014 after Mahoutsukai no Yoru came out in 2012, and wasn't announced until now due to DelightWorks, the publisher, working on Fate/Grand Order, starting in 2015 and has been recently slowing down in terms of content, possibly because of Melty and funding for the Tsukihime remake

This game is being released like a month after the Tsukihime Remake VN. And they said that the Remake is right now just the Arcuied and Ciel routes but massively expanded upon in terms of story and lore with the other routes coming later. So in terms of the other 4-5-ish characters, those that are part of the OG Arcuied and Ciel routes, I think we can safely assume Satsuki, Nero Chaos, and Roa. Aoko was more of a hidden boss character in the OG Melty Blood so I'm not sure if she'll return. I think we might get a new character that will be introduced in the VN since there's been some official artwork of this game with a character in complete shadow. After that, maybe Red Arcuied since a crazed Arcuied was the final boss of Ciel's route. But since they emphasized that Sion is out since Type Lumina's story is a what-if prequel to the Tsukihime Remake, then that's going to exclude the Lens, Wallachia, the roastbeef, Miyako (maybe), the Nekos and Mech, and Ryougi Shiki (who was made mostly as a promotion for the Kara no Kyoukai movies that was releasing alongside it) as well sadly. Maybe we'll get a Fate character to help promote this game.

If this is based on Tsukihime A piece of blue glass moon I expect 14-16 characters as 'over 10 characters'. Miyako was teased. We have seen Wallachia with long hair in the opening for Tsukihime A piece of blue glass moon fighting against Arcueid. Aoko and Satsuki are granted. They are in the visual novel. Kouma is unlikely since he probably won't show up in A piece of blue glass moon (Arcueid's and Ciel's routes). People are hoping this time Satsuki Yumizuka gets her route if Tsukihime is really a reboot more than a remake with new voice actors in mind. Minami Tanaka got the character voice for Satsuki Yumizuka. Both Kaede Hondo (Ciel's voice) and Yuuki Kuwahara (Kohaku's voice) are good friends with Minyami. A such important seiyuu kinda confirms a route for Satsuki in the other visual novel with Akiha, Hisui and Kohaku. Sion came after Kagetsu Toyha (Tsukihime sequel) in the timeline. What about Len? Doubtful. If they change every voice actor will they change Jouji Nakata too who voiced Neon Chaos? If they will change him, picks some good replacement like Tomokazu Sugita and watch this game will fly off of the shelves/platform stores.

I'll confess Obama. I was talking shit about there being no PC release. I thought that was a big mistake. I was going to get it on ps4 regardless, but I thought no PC release was a missed opportunity. That said, we all make mistakes. Everyone is capable of growing and changing. To be fair toilet tournaments will now be easier to hold thanks to the switch version. 😂 I don't fuck with this shit but at least we get another fighting game with rollback and pc this year. And the trailer was much more interesting and more informative than all of the KOF 15 ones easy.
