Good video should help a lot of folks out. Videos like this is what a lot of guys need to repair their stuff. We have been trying to do the same thing on major repairs we have to do. Just to help other farmers out. Cause lord knows john deere dealers don't know how to work on these anymore.

Hey Guys, excellent work and results! One suggestion, consider the use of 'guide studs' for good control when removing and installing heavy components.....they help tremendously when removing, so its not an all-or-nothing event when you come off the dowels....even more help when installing as you get an early target which has you in perfect dowel alignment. We just make ours to suite....hacksaw off the heads of three or four 6" bolts...fashion the cut end for your choice of removal tool....screwdriver slot or squared off for socket, etc. First started making and using these many, many years ago to set Detroit Diesel heads, which use a head gasket made up of all individual components rather than one piece style. Guides give you a way to slowly lower with precision..stopping along the way to make sure things are staying in place. Taking the time to make, you'll soon have enough diffferent sizes to work with about any job!

Wow😳😳😳😳 That was quite the repair!!! All that from the bolt breaking? Looks like it all went pretty well though!! I couldn't imagine attempting that without the forklift!! Really enjoy the shop series , hate the breakdowns are happening though for food content🤦🤦🤦 Man that is alot of rubber across those four tires!! Great job gentleman, look fwd to seeing what's next....hopefully no more breakdowns for y'all though 😁😁🇺🇸🇺🇸👍👍🇺🇸

That bolt has a massive amount of torque and preload on it. We may rebuild that final drive this winter to have a spare. It is the same axle that's on our 4640s too. Our forklift is old and tired, but I couldn't imagine life without it.

It’s a good thing we have a salvage yard in a reasonable distance. It’s the only thing that keeps my old farm running.

Love this channel. Would anti seize work in the hub area where that gear grabs onto the axle?
@DylanJoyceFarms
@DylanJoyceFarms Жыл бұрын
It would probably help, but that's not something that is really used a lot, so it will likely be set up again before it is ever moved.

Not trying to tell y'all what to do but let me tell y'all a little secret about y'all's air compressor if y'all would mount it outside u don't have to hear that dang thing come on and off all day long in the shop

Yessir, I agree, but I still rather have the 4760. I just like that next to the biggest in the series.

Yours is the ONLY video I’ve seen on removing the axle from the differential. Mine’s a smaller project, a JD 2020, but the principal’s the same. I got stymied after I got the 12 housing bolts off, but I think a come along should break the housing free.
@DylanJoyceFarms
@DylanJoyceFarms 7 ай бұрын
Yea, the weight of the long axle on the 4650 is enough to break it loose without an excessive amount of prying.

Yessir, I should have mentioned it in the video, but the used axle from the salvage yard was $1500.

Thank you! I have a 4640 power shift first tractor I purchased. The trans filter filled up with glitter when I started to cultivating. I hope this fixes it.
