My 93 Lightning around 260 hp E40D, B&M shift kit and 430 gear to push it down the road was a blast to drive. I can only imagine what the E40D is gonna do with that kind of Horsepower and with nos too . Once you turn that Overdrive off it was a different animal. 😎

Awsome man my stock 4r100 lasted close to 175k with 450+hp and 900 ft lb tourque in my 7.3 welding truck that wieghed around 13k lb its a tough transmission cant wait to see one in casper

Wow that transmission sounds great ! I have been fighting with AOD for a while now have spent the money but second one it making a whine now and the first one only lasted about 500 miles .Both from Art Carr at California performance transmission with a custom converter and non lock up it's only a 427 windsor in a 57 Bird

It will be a heavier unit... but you will get some mechanical advantage as the gear ratios will be lower than your C4. And then there is the overdrive. You are gonna like that...

Kudos to you Andy for deciding to keep Casper with an all Ford driveline. "Casper-Matic", has a nice ring to it. Just a reminder to go with the highest quality input shaft available. (Been there-Done that.) Lesser enthusiasts would have taken the conventional route, jumped ship and gone with one of the modified Generic Motors auto transmissions. As a guy who never did and never will have my name on the registration of anything other than a Ford Motor Company product, I thank you and John Cope.

I have been seeing his work on your transmission! I think he has nailed it big time! Ford is going to have a killer trans soon. I think it’s going to kick the GM market out of the ford lineup fast . I'm a quarter mile guy, twice the fun as the eighth mile plus can run a more street friendly gear in the vehicle to drive to the track. I have been thinking about how to make a street/strip vehicle be competitive in the 1/8 but still street friendly and here's what I came up with; If you can get your suspension good enough to hook with even numerically higher rear gears you won't even need NO2. Add a gear vendors unit to the rear of the overdrive transmission so you can overdrive the overdrive to drive it to the track. Not sure how numerically higher you can go with your differential but mid 6:1 something should work great if you can get it to hook? You'll have to shift very fast as well. Instead of having 4 gears, you'll now have basically 8 gears, or able to overdrive every gear however you want to look at it? Not sure how that might work with that shifter Cope made to shift it though? If there's room on the shifter handle for a thumb button, that would be a good place for it? Hopefully you'll read this before you get a driveshaft for the longer overdrive because it would have to be even shorter with a gear venders unit. Being shorter is a good thing because of increasing the driveshaft speed by overdriving the overdrive with the mid 6:1 something gear....... This is what I might do if only eighth mile tracks were near me. 👍

Spragless converter eliminates the torque multiplication. I had one in a diesel, felt super lazy out of the hole. 4R100 is big in diesel and Lightning racing. Many Dodge drag trucks actually run them too, as they can be controlled, built to handle huge power (like 2k hp and over that tq), and they shift fast. I'm curious how getting rid of the electronics will do. Might get some 12v Cummins guys to got on board... Mine is still alive at 294k behind my 7.3 in an Excursion.

@UnityMotorSportsGarage There are a few shops known for 4R100 builds. BTS (Brian's Truck Shop), John Wood, Sam Wyse (Wyse Automotive), Twisted Diesel, and I believe A1. Those come to mind anyway. Like I said look to diesel drag and sled pull trucks to see bulletproof 4R builds. Good stuff Andy. Between this and the Vic I'm in!

Too bad you aren’t running a ‘60-‘63 Ranchero your street weight would be around 2500 lbs. You would probably be running 9 second quarter miles with your current setup and way easier on parts. I have a ‘72 C10 LWB big block that runs low 7 eigth miles on 87 octane @4500 lbs with driver. I decided if I need to go quicker I will go to something much lighter! Good luck!

For most of the modern transmissions, a 4L60-4L80, 6L80/90, 8L90, maybe the 10 speeds and what ever comes out after that, if possible ! The ford and dodge trans also, I'd like to have a 6L90, with manual/auto, however, i do not care for the electronics, id much rather have a T56

Years back I did a C6 changed 1-2 planetary gears from the OD transmission taller gears to get things moving. Do you think lowering the suspension and a Bigger tire on back might help get you where you want to be ? Would running hoses like on the thunderbolts , carb to grill get better air flow for the carbs? Good luck
