The Farseer turned to look towards the stars. “No. My kind has fallen far, but yours has fallen further.” “At least my kind doesn’t have a god devoted to devouring their souls,” the Inquisitor snorted. Apparently, back during the Eldar's peak years, Craftworlds used to be some kind of merchant/exploration ships, which would make the people who used and lived in it the Ancient Eldar equivalent of Rogue Traders. And also, just like their human equivalent, the Ancient Eldar noble class equivalent used to really look down on these Proto-Craftworlders... Yet these 'noble' Eldars were also the ones who murder-fucked Slaanesh into existence. The fact that it's the outcasts of the Ancient Eldar society and their descendants that now makes up the majority of the Eldar that survived to the present time is a delicious irony.

For those wondering there is actually a 6th named Craftworld you can play as called Altansar though I don't fault him too much as they did only recently come back from the Eye of Terror when their most famous member Maugen Ra found and piloted them out just as the Great Rift formed. They are a very umm shy lot since they aren't seen without their armor and they tend to barely speak above a whisper which if you've been in the Eye for 12k years it's understandable. Because of this though they are viewed with suspicion by the other Craftworlds but if Maugen Ra is around they won't say anything. They also full heartedly support the Ynnari if I recall.

For the TLDR of why the Prince got exiled is he was in charge of the craftworlds defenses and was really good at it. One day a Chaos fleet came close and he led All of their fighters to engage them, they won but then as usual Chaos raged and shot a bunch of missiles at the craftworld. The interesting part about Alaitoc is that their rules reflect a fighting force of sneaky rangers, that is almost entirely at odds with the culture of the Craftworld proper. Which makes perfect sense narratively: 99.999% of the time, if you're in armed conflict with Alaitoc, you're fighting their outriders and rangers. Just because of how insular and isolationist the core of their polity is. Which means if, for whatever reason, you wanted to run a Craftworld army that reflected Alaitoc's _core_ population - the highly regimented and disciplined "home guard" - you'd be better served using the custom Craftworld rules. It's just very odd, albeit logical, that "Alaitoc" rules reflect more the outcasts and peripheral population, rather than the Craftworld as it is described in the lore. While the books talk about Alaitoc as being the most disciplined about their Path, you aren't running those guys. You're running the guys who deliberately deviate from that culture.

I think its interesting how different it can be when it comes to language. Wraithbone in german localisation is known as "Phantomkristall" which would translate to "phantom/wraith crystal". No love for Altansar ? Their not shown in the codex, but there is extensive lore and some rules in a recent issue of White Dwarf. P.S. Biel-Tan rocks and I love it's color scheme. It looks spectacular on vehicles, especialy the "thorn patterns" on the green armour plating.

Idk why considering they used to be in an older codex; along with Lugganath, Yme-Loc, Il-Kaithe and Iybraesil.

Makes me think of In the Garden of Ghosts. One of the only good hammer and bolter episodes, good eldar feels.

If DK likes the whole "dead walk again" & "ghost town filled with ghosts" thing from the Iyanden craftworld he should definitely check out the Vampire Counts and the cursed province of Sylvania from Warhammer Fantasy imo. Their whole deal is that plus count Dracula and an extremely gothic aesthetic like the empire of man in 40k. They also have some really cool/badass characters like Vlad von Carstien, Abhorash and Neferata.

@ the quote/intro lol I zoned out during the quote for the eLdAr just like DK did. DK said it was a long quote, but it really wasn't. Eldar writing is really just that eye-roll inducing most of the time. 🙄 (So im totally on DKs vibe, not saying he was 'wrong')

The infinite logo is also considered another form or symbol of the oroboros, which is a serpent as well. Ooooo spot on GW! Eeeoooee

Whenever I play Xenoverse 2, I sometimes joke that the Otherworld is actually a series of Eldar Craft World in the warp. Which is really easy considering the Kai look suspiciously like Eldar to me.

I've known about 40K for at least 20 years by now mainly through cultural osmosis online, but I literally never realized it's "Saim-Hann", not "Samm-Hain". Dyslexia is fun.

6:49, um eldar aren't inspired by Japanese stuff. They're actually based on Greeks. Ulthwe is Delphi and biel-tan is Sparta, also dire avengers have crests on thier helms like Greek warriors. Like I don't know how you came to the conclusion that the eldar are based on Japanese stuff especially when the tau are a faction.

As they fucked up and talked about everything else but the topic I'll cover this important part of GW LORE: Grandmaster Bip'bop, Which?-King of Craftworld Ahrtsan, is known for using needleguns with needles harder than polycrete. Their secret?: master bonesingers leaving paintbrushes in a pot of gunmetal grey for two weeks and cured to dry with a hardness of 12 on the Mohs scale. They also have an overly complicated but perfectly thin paint scheme consisting of multiple intersecting chequerboard patterns. The only player who has ever fielded an Ahrtsan Craftworld army was later revealed to be an iron man wearing a flesh suit. Their duplicity was revealed the moment they played an Eldar army unironically.

The Necrons are the most powerful no question. However the Necrons want bodies again and to get their souls back. That's the only reason the Tyranids and Chaos are the most dangerous to the galaxy cause they want to eat and destroy it. Edit: also Eldar Wraith Constructs are very powerful and deadly so lucky for the Imperium they are rare and not something the Eldar seek.
