Scams like this have been going on for many years, most just don't know. So, in the early 70's at 23 years of age I signed a lease agreement with a company called Midwest Trucking (I think that was the name) located in Fort Scott, KS. As far as I know this was the first ever company that I know of, that you could buy a tractor from that company with little down (most tractors were late model tractors at the time as well). Early on they ran me hard always had loads and most paid fairly well however as time rolled on and had more equity in that truck the loads paid less and less and was sitting more and more until I had to give-up the tractor back Midwest. Years later I discovered how that was how that company operated, they would put you into a tractor and slowly squeeze you out. Eventually they got busted and went out of business.

I put down a couple thousand on my tractor though, which was a bad move BUT it seemed to be a good idea at the time, lol. By the way, I was one of the early, early lease operators when they started that program.

OMG. Finally the truth!!! Many stories just like this appeared isolated. Pointing fingers at individual Carriers. But every flipping story is the same! I can hear them now. 2500 miles a week, down to 600 miles. Actually owing and paying the company to square up. So many drivers left these companies in the "red" Bad! Like owing the carrier thousands!

Did research on the company, i see alot trailer on the road i always do research. What i realized is that the drivers that works for them.are somalis, Ethiopian, and Punjabi. They are new . They don't know what's going on, i bet. These people will change to another name and do it again.

I drove for a Trucking Company out of Shannon, Il. back in 1992, 93, I Worked there living in Florida the company name was Asche Transfer , Was working normal OTR Work, then find out the owner had about 100 maybe 150 trucks nice equipment was good mileage runs, then one day closed shop, come to find out he was only paying taxes on half the fleet the other half he ha under the table, the Feds didn't like that they put him in prison for 10 years, how dumb he could have been a millionaire maybe a muti-millionaire but he got greedy, i can never forget that, Merry Christmas Drivers😊

i worked for a mail contractor called Midwest Transportation Inc based in Robinson IL. they went bust several months ago. they hid the fact that chapter 7 was happening till 3 DAYS before shutdown! all the warning we got was a zoom call on a Thursday morning informing us that Sunday was our last day!

Trucking needs regulation. I normally believe in free market, but this industry is soo corrupt! They need to enforce laws they already have that require skills and ability, but they also need to protect drivers from companies, brokers, and shippers who abuse the lack of regulation.

I remember listening to Paul Harvey during noon time and he always finished the story with (now the rest of the story). I remember an Arrow Truck parked next to my truck at Carneys Point and a lot lizard got in the truck with the driver and the air ride sleeper really bounced. This was around 2003. I remember lots of Arrow trucks at lots of different places. Then came the Arrow shut down and the stories about turning in the trucks at Freightliner and receiving a bus ticket to get home. This latest fraud in a trucking company perhaps it will end up with turning in the trucks at dealerships and receiving a bus ticket home?

And again, as you loosely apply "recession" that too is partly to bad, poor business and mismanagement, unethical business practices. It (recession) includes the inability to repay loans. Why? Overleveraging!! Not a "bad economy." We're too quick to blame something that doesn't exist. The overabundance and hyper swell of freight was eventually all mopped up, leaving more empty trucks than freight. Companies had gone ape bananas mega crazy to accommodate exorbitant freight volumes, as if projecting for 10 years!! They knew better. Just a temporary shot in the arm. New CDL schools, new lease programs, fake Carriers simply facilitating rate cons with no trucks, etc etc and this!! If I haphazardly finance 600 trucks and trailers TODAY an d fail. That is NOT a recession my friend.
