Tausugs living in Zamboanga are pretty much multilingual. An average Tausug person living there can speak Chavacano, Cebuano and Tagalog, in addition to their native Tausug. Some Tausug can also speak the Sinama/Sama Laut language of Tawi tawi.

Cebuano should be aware that the term "Bisaya" does not belong solely to them. I've had a lot of people ask me, "Marunong ka Mag-Bisaya?". The term "Visaya"/Madya-as was applied to Malay and Chinese inhabitants of #Panay (Ilonggo, Kinray-a, etc). While the native of Sugbo(Cebu) was called Pintados. Although the term Bisaya has been incorporated into Cebuano jargon for centuries, it should never be confused with the term Cebuano. As a result, identifying Bisaya solely as Cebuano is inaccurate because it excludes all other inhabitants of the region. All Cebuanos can be referred to as Bisaya, but not all Bisaya can be referred to as Cebuanos. Furthermore, Bisaya should not be considered a language and should never be confused with the Cebuano language, despite the fact that the majority of Visayans speak Cebuano. The Tribes of Panay is the true Visayan. The name "Mindanao" is a Spanish corruption of the name of the Maguindanao people, the dominant ruling ethnic group in the Sultanate of Maguindanao in southwestern Mindanao during the Spanish colonial period.

I note that Ilocano, Pangasinan and Maranao have schwa /ə/ unlike other Philippine languages. Tausug has only 3 vowels: a, i, u and sounds closer to Malay.

Kapampángan also has a schwa in some dialects. A for /ə or a/ Á for /aː/

100%, the combinations of sounds are similar but trust, I grew up hearing Tagalog and cannot understand Cebuano, for example. Even though there's sounds and speech patterns that almost sound like Tagalog, I cannot piece together a Cebuano sentence at all. Different vocabularies and some grammar too. These are whole languages, and I'm glad the younger generation of Filipinos is recognizing these as Filipino *languages,* not simply "dialects of Tagalog." (Dialect implies that it's a sub-branch of one language)

I think the reason why we call them dialects instead of languages, my guess is "linguistic nationalism". many people speaking different languages living in these islands united under one country against the colonizers (Spain, USA, Japan). as for using English, its purpose was to be a "neutral language", aside from the fact of USA influence. what if we also still used Spanish or Japanese as one (another neutral language next to English)?

Well depending from area, from what ik most tagalog or northern have, as a Bisaya and well ik some stuff about the other areas that speak Bisaya, there isn't a Po and Opo thing if you wanna be like respectful or formal it's usually on how you say the words (like saying them properly) and ESPECIALLY the tone and volume of your voice, so yeh applying Po and Opo in places that don't really use this feels ngl kinda weird, like most of us know that the person is trying to be respectful (cause learning Tagalog is part of the curriculum) but like it's just not the norm in a lot of places

First, the Philippines is an Asian country just like Japan and Indonesia, which are both archipelagic nation. Second, linguistically, culturally, the Philippines has been influenced by Spanish Empire, which is why Filipinos are called as the Latinos of Asia, which is not. Filipinos are true Asians, not Oceania (Pacific Islanders). The precolonial history is largely influenced by Southeast Asia and India. If the Philippine islands were not under Spain, they could be their own separate countries.

It's possible but there's need to take place before it happens, 1) The Renaissance of Spain Power Influence within Europe and Northern Africa. 2) The Resurgence of Latin America against the American Domination on their Country's Economy, Finance, Governance and Culture. 3)The Revival of Spanish America within USA and the overtaking of Spanish Language and Culture within the America's Mainstream Cultural Influencer like Media and Entertainment. 4)The Rekindling of Socio-Cultural Ties, Increasing of Economic Links & Business Trade, and Upgrading of Political Relations between Latin America and the Philippines, especially Mexico and Brazil. 5)The Weakening of the Western Hegemonic Countries in North America, Western Europe and East Asia.
