The Moonswatch is NOT a limited Edition as many people think. You have to go to a Shop to get one the next few weeks. After that, the Moonswatch WILL be available online. A Watchmaker told me why people buy up to $8000 (!) for a Watch that costs just $270: Thay just dont want to wait! At the Moment, many Swatch Stores sold all of their Moonswatches. But the watches will be available again in a few days. There is absolutely no reason to pay more for this cheap watch then the Shop price $270!

Just to be clear, not all quartz movements are cheap, Grand Seiko just to name one, my Bulova Lunar Pilot is excellent with a High frequency movement, ok that was two.

For $260, I'd rather get a chinese watch from aliexpress. Stainless steel, bracelet, automatic movement, water resistance (200m), saphire crystal etc. What ppl are really buying is the OMEGA stamped on the dial. There would not be any hype if it just had Swatch on it, let's be honest.

@Corleone Wrong. Lots of Chinese watches have reliable Japanese workhorse movements inside. And ALL of them have removable casebacks so you can just swap out the movement if a problem occurs. The moonswatch does not have a removable caseback and Swatch does not even provide repair parts.

This is probably why Casio uses aluminum casebacks on their G Shocks. Plastic is not the best material for caseback. They can easy fix this by swapping out the caseback with an aluminum one in store.

One thing I don't get is why they aren't selling these watches in ALL of their stores. They are only available in select stores, at least at this point. These watches aren't collectors items and they are only $260. While they shouldn't "bleed" the points you are making aren't even realistic. A person that paid 10x the retail cost is an idiot. It took me all of 5 minutes after finding out these even existed, that they are NOT limited and more will be coming. that guy is going t be far more pissed off about the extra 2k he spent over a little blue spot on his wrist. If you spend 2k on this little plastic quartz watch, you can probably afford to buy 2 real ones.

Why do people keep stating that the release of this watch is marketing genius? A cheap Watch that’s not a limited run and will no doubt deteriorate quickly how is that a positive for a luxury brand? This has devalued Omega, and for those who are ‘lucky’ enough to buy one the poor quality and short longevity will no doubt put them off the brand. It is weird that the existing Swatches are not rubbing off, but there is probably no blue like this. Testing has shown that the colour is coming from the case. The material itself is white and then painted. Should obviously not be water soluble 😂

What concerns me is what chemical dye is on the case of this watch? Will it irritate the skin or worse? What are the long term effects if worn every day? In the US there are rules governing the materials of the section of the watch that contacts the skin. This is why there is a stainless steel back on watches made with cases other than gold or some other inert material. It seems the Moonswatch May run afoul of those rules. I like the Moonswatch, but this problem needs to be fixed, and fast. I can see Swatch getting sued because a wearer experiences health problems due to the dye being absorbed into the skin.

It does not look like it "bleeds all over your wrist." It looks like some of the color from the graphic on the back side is transferring. Even though you say "you can't even wear it," I think it can still be worn, but the graphic will wear out first. I am not surprised that somethng on a plastic watch will wear out. As for those who bought them for the collection, they won't wear them anyway. If the graphic wears out, then those maintained with plastic wrap will be perfectly preserved, won't they? I think that satisfies the concept of collectible. Honestly, if you collect coins, do you then throw them in the car's ash tray in case you have to pay the meter? They are over-priced, but they are fun. Ever been to Disneyland?

The bleed issue is the only one you've highlighted that is actually an issue. Selling limited quantity in-store? Marketing genius move. And actually I do live about 25 mins from a Swatch store. Rolex people? Look on Hodinkee - there are people who were lined up for these new watches with a Rolex on their wrists. And Quartz watches are bad? Not at all - they're actually far more accurate than mechanical movements - and for $260 that's a fair price.

It's very cheap made and more could have been done for the price point. Total cash grab from Swatch company. If the colour is rubbing off onto people's wrists, what that tells me is that the cases are such utter excrement that the colour is just painted onto the surface of the plastic and not hard moulded into it the way any normal manufacturer would do it. If you just must get a quartz watch, go with Seiko. Their quartz movements will keep running VERRRY accurately for 20 - 30 years without any maintenance, and then when something goes wrong, many calibres can be repaired. Even a Rolex quartz will burn out long before that.

He is factually incorrect...companies like JLC and Omega (X33) Breitling and Grand Seiko all produced quartz watch that are a several thousand dollars. I don’t know why YT recommended this video! What a poor & snobby attitude! Lol Quartz watches are cheap??? What about Breitling? What about Tag? Grand Seiko? They all have quartz watches! My first watch as a kid was a clear Swatch with colored add on face guard from the Swatch store in the mall! I had a Rolex once and it never lived up to the fantasy and I always felt like I had to treat it like fine china and I actually never wanted anyone to see or notice it. I went “down” to a single Quartz Tag Formula 1 and have worn it every day for probably 6 years! It’s scratched, has a slightly chipped bezel, and I ocean swim with it regularly. I feel better about that Tag than any other watch I have ever had. I’m most likely going to add in at least 1 Omega / Swatch for times I don’t want a metal watch. If after a couple of months I’m wearing it more than the Tag I’ll sell the Tag. I think it will bring in a fresh new watch enthusiast crowd. Maybe even help with micro brands which would be my next choice

Someone should let half the watch industry know that as they use quartz movement they are cheap. And $270 is expensive. Tag Heuer, Citizen, Swatch, tissot, and many many more you have all made a mistake. Your over charging for your watches. What a stuip statement to say.

With the price i can just get gshock or maybe even seiko maybe you can also buy hamilton if you save up. I cant justify the overpriced swatch just because it has omega logo on it.

Swatch should have numbered the watch both laser and limited release, to add to the collector theme. Personally the price is too high. They should be half the price the retail price.

Rolex is not that super...try GS much better quality. They should have done it in 38mm in metal and charge more
