This makes me wish for a video about how Chaos Marines replenish their numbers, and make new Marines? There aren't worlds full of people in the Warp, to pick the best from, but many of the best warriors found during a raid would be killed, and so not get the chance to become Chaos Marines. Most of their geneseed is irradiated mayonnaise, meaning some other gene goop needs to be pumped into them, to cause the changes, and without the oversight of Apothecaries, as most Chaos Warbands seem to be lacking. They're barely related to their gene-sires, "trained" only so far as they survive alongside others of their ilk, and are probably lucky to have a full suit of (aging) power armor, and a bolt gun, with superiors waiting for them to make a move, yet they retain the numbers for being threatening to the wider realspace galaxy. Or maybe they are more cohesive, and fraternal, than I give them credit? Still, it would be interesting to see how a new Iron Warrior, Black Legionaire, or Thousand Sons Marine, comes into being, to menace the Imperium.

one of them, Honsou the halfbreed of iron warriors had the daemoninculba (demonwombs) that he put kidnapped youngsters in with stolen gene seed to hot house new marines. in the novels it only really worked once. he ended up with a clone of 4th company Captain, Uriel Ventris that knew what Uriel knew but was in constant pain and was insane, Uriel killed his clone in single combat in a cave on Calth during the chaos invasion of ultramar

Occasionally a space marine, or even an entire chapter, will go rogue and join Chaos. Look at the Red Corsairs.

This is where the Night Lord's have the advantage when it comes to Traitor Legions and geneseed. Their geneseed is surprisingly pure and not tainted. Unlike other chaos legions. in the Night Lord's trilogy, when the NL dock at the Red Corsairs base in orbit called the Hells Iris, their serfs kidnapped a bunch of pregnant women that were on the station so they can implant gendered when their children are born. also in the NO trilogy during Blood Reaver, them and the Red Corsairs raided the Marines Errant chapter monastery specifically to steal their stocks of geneseed. That's usually how the Traitor Legions make more Marines, raiding, taking their crew and serfs male children that are born. They still have Apothecarys, they're just rare and very important. Plus, when a traitor legionaire dies, they'll usually extract the geneseed, as long as it's not really corrupt, at least that's how the Night Lord's are, since they generally don't like chaos. They're good ol fashion Traitors.

There actually are worlds full of people in the Eye of Terror. New traitor marines are either created by turning loyalists, taking slaves from loyalist worlds and implanting them, or by taking the best of the human population of the Eye. Khornate worlds in the Eye have gladiatorial arenas, they recruit those warriors who survive the countless battles it's basically their reward for proving themselves. It is stated in several books how they recruit and it is stated that the Eye does have a massive human population from which most new traitor marines are recruited from.

You should also look up Decimus, the Prophet of the Night Lord's. He was born from a Female Navigator and a Legion male serf, Octavia and Septimus, best love story in all of 40k. Their child was taken and implanted with the first Night Lord's prophet geneseed after dying. Also, Chaos regularly scavenge other dead Astartes for replacement armor and weapons. You see this a lot during the Night Lord's trilogy, they're always scavenging blood angels or their own dead brothers.

Being a champion of Nurgle is the best Chaos job, for sure. No need to get sexually assaulted, no need to lose yourself in mindless rage, no need to be a puppet. You stay yourself, for the most part. And youre really tough to kill, chill is the name of the game. Just wander the galaxy and spread some plagues. Sure the space butthole rot will be nasty but you wont really care.

They also need to possess a soul. Swarmlord would not get possessed, even if it (or hive-mind) felt satisfaction. Nor would an Ork (protected by Gork and Mork and WAAAGH power), or a Necron. And its only busted if you dont know about the power. If you know about it then any space marine has the will power to not feel satisfaction. Just to fuck with Slaanesh. Though perhaps Lucius's aura could affect the mind of an unnamed space marine to cause it happen, probably. But not a Grey Knight

Honestly chaos is sooooooo unrewarding that I hardly see how people can keep joining these guys. They don’t make their servants lives easier whatsoever. Other factions actually want their forces to be in good shape but those guys not just dont care, they work very hard to make their servants weaker. I know its all grimdark and sht but man. How are their cults still alive??? Every second your best warrior can become a meat puddle with teeth and if you are in position of power anyone can stab you in the back(at least with chaos its the most casual way of getting a raise). Somehow Nurgle is the most consistent in keeping his armies well

alongside Inquisitors, Chaos Champions and Lords are something I want to see as a main character for a resource management RPG. yeah they're evil, but so is everyone in this godsdamned setting. by resource management I mean outside combat, you gotta manage several VERY uppity egos in your warband while making the best use of limited resources looted from Imperial worlds.

Mate I want a Chaos Warband game where you have Xcom style gameplay only the base is a ship with navigation and loads of narrative choices to earn notoriety and favour with different chaos gods to gain powers, weapons and grow your warband, with a numbers based representation of fleet and army battles, which you can sway by undertaking boarding actions or key missions in a tactical isometric mode. I reckon that could be sweet.
