I'd been making these for years on my cnc. A bit of advice on the glue up use a mix of wood glue and ca glue in key areas. this allows you laminate the two board before the wood glue sets allowing you to avoid fussing around with clamps.

I’ve thought about this and want to try it, I just have no experience with ca glue. I really need to try it out though!

Great idea! I'm truly impressed that you can do all that cutting with the laser and it's not charred to death on the sides. that's where I struggle with wood. its always got nasty soot all around the edges.
@grovebuilds16 күн бұрын
The 5mm pine cuts really good on the laser. Some charring on the sides but not bad! I’ve tried other woods but they char too much like you said.

Also you could use Baltic birch plywood and that would give a nice look as well. Great product!

I actually thought about that but I was worried about the veneer coming off with kids playing with them. Just my thought

Great product for sure. I've been making puzzles out of hardwood with my CNC machine for a few years. I like your variant - i just might start offering a second option! Nice work!

Thank you!! I’m hoping I can add a CNC to my shop soon so I can start using more hardwoods instead of just pine on the laser engraver
@LYTOMIZE_Woodshop24 күн бұрын
@grovebuilds Yeah. You'll love it... I started the other way around. A CNC machine and then three lasers. It's a fun journey - knock out a few more puzzles then you'll level up again and again! 😀

I call BS - there's hundreds of these listed on Etsy. Everyone who tries to jump on the get rich quick laser bandwagon is going to be frustrated, pissed off, and trying to sell that laser within 6 months. Nice video but pie in the sky dreaming.

I can honestly say this worked for me! I had 42 orders in less than 24 hrs and had to stop taking orders because I was overwhelmed. I recently posted I was taking more orders and had 15 more puzzles orders in a few days. Will this work for everyone? No but for people who are willing to put in the work they can make good money making these. This is how I did it and it worked for me. Take that for what it’s worth.

He’s already made his money, that’s why it’s on KZbin. You have to be the first one with something no one has done before. They’re on Etsy all over the place now because someone saw his item and copied it, and they copied the copy, etc. so now he can post it on KZbin and make the view time so it’s icing on the already baked cake. If you’re watching videos for ideas, you’re too late. That’s why you’re salty AF.

I would save time on the glue up phase by putting something heavy on top of it rather than messing with all those clamps. It doesn't have to be super heavy either, think 2 bricks end to end or another board as a weight transfer with a gallon paint can on top of that.
@grovebuilds24 күн бұрын
That’s a good idea! I’ll have to try it out

@@grovebuilds I might have to try cutting some 5mm pine. I've been using basswood and plywood type wood but anything over 3mm my D1 Pro 10watt struggles with. I'm guessing because of the glue and pockets (inconsitencies) in plywood.

@@RoHof86 I set my speed to 3.5 mm/s and my power to 90%. If you have a 20 watt you can probably speed it up and cut the puzzles faster
