Make a Baby Chick with Paper Mache Clay

Just in time for Spring, a baby chick you can make in a couple of afternoons. You could use the same technique, of wire legs and aluminum foil body, and then cover it with paper strips and paste if you don't want to mix up a batch of the paper mache clay.

Hey there I have a question, I can't find the answer on google.. Thing is I made awesome crafts using normal paper mache mix, including flour. Then in summer biscuit beetles infested them hard and I can't save them, they ruined them. So how do I coat or protect my paper mache from them? Having acrylic layers didn't help, they made holes through it still

You might need an epoxy product to completely seal the sculptures, but I'm not sure even that would work. Bugs are very creative when it comes to finding things to eat. Next time, try using Elmer's Art Paste, if you can find it locally or online. It's made out of methyl cellulose, (from wood, I think) and the bugs might not like it as much.

+Michelle Meireles I want chickens, too. I gave away the flock that was shown in the video before I moved. My recommendation is to find a hatchery close by. Or check out the ads in the Backyard Poultry magazine.
