How to make custom music discs in Minecraft 1.20.1. You can place any song on a Minecraft Music Disc with this tutorial. I show you how to make your own custom Minecraft music discs resource pack and add that to Minecraft. We will be making a Minecraft custom music disc resource pack which will contain the new music, new names for the disc, and a new image for the inventory. Making custom Minecraft music discs is a great way to personalize your Minecraft experience.

For those it may concern, leave the records in stereo form to ignore the fade away affect from the jukebox. This allows you to travel any distance and still hear the jukebox as if you were next to it.

Thank you so much for the tutorial, being an old school minecraft Beta player, I really had trouble finding all the minecraft files since everything changed so much. It used to be so much easier back in the days you would simply access the data files and change them however you'd like. I gave your tutorial a try so I could make my own packs in the future. Thanks! On the gameplay mode it depends on which video you watch. I made this in creative. Most of my videos dealing with resource packs are in creative. Everything else is in Survival. I have about 5 different survival worlds I use in my videos depending on what I want to show. Over on my HTG George Plays channel I only work in survival and it is all the same world since that channel is a game play channel only.

Thanks so much for making these vids, I've followed your channel for all the tutorials whilst making my resourcepacks over the years, Just a particular issue I'm having is that whenever I change the names in the lang file, it doesn't carry across into game but the music does, I'm unsure if having 2 lang files (one for us and one for es) is whats messing with it? First double check your paths, make sure they are 100% perfect. Next if you are using the pack in more than one language you will need to edit all language files that you use.

You are right, boosting the volume is the way to go using Audacity. You can adjust the music volume in MC but that adjusts all music, not just the discs. I do have a discord but I am holding off on that for the channel, I may use it as a perk for membership, still giving that some thought. Not sure if memberships would work on my channel.

If you are the admin you should be able to install it as a server pack. How that is done depends on the server, I'm not a server expert so can't give you specifics, but the server will have to be set up to automatically download packs to users systems. You can change any or all of the discs in the game, just put them into the same folders and edit the same lang file.

Anyone know how to remove the directional audio? I don't like it when the sound comes from one side of my headphones and not the other.

All sounds in Minecraft should be Mono. Sounds like someone made a Stereo sound and put the sound all on one channel instead of making the sound Mono. If you are talking about action or effects sounds, those will be coming from the source of the sound. If the sources is on one side of you the sound will be coming from that one side. It would take some fancy programming and creating a mod to change how that works.

Minecraft limits the play time to the length of the original song, but using a shorter song should work fine.

Very true. I like to keep the images no more than 4x the original, and even that is too high sometimes. But doubling the size usually works out well. So a 16x16 goes to 32x32.

I put the zipped file into my resouce pack file and minecraft isn't recognizing it. Any idea what could be happening?

First look for typos in the pack. Next make sure it was saved to .zip and not something else like .rar or .7z. Make sure that the zip contains the pack.mcmeta file and it is the correct version for your version of MC, you can find out more about that on my website here georgepeirson.com/minecraft-pack-mcmeta. And finally when you open the zip file you should see the assets folder, the pack.mcmeta and the pack.png. If instead you see one folder with that stuff inside that folder then you have one folder too many.

When I load the pack and play the disc it plays literally the same song as by default. The file's name is cat.ogg and I downloaded with .ogg expansion. Why is that and how can I make it work?

If it is still playing the original song then MC isn't seeing the new disc. First make sure the pack is loading, then look for typos. Make sure there aren't any capital letters anywhere. Personally I don't trust songs downloaded to .ogg and I would convert to .ogg anyway, but if that was the problem you would not hear any music, not the original song.

Double check the resource pack, make sure everything is named exactly the same as the original and that they are the right file types.

Check your version of Minecraft and use the correct pack.mcmeta for that version. Right now 1.20.4 is the newest version and 22 is correct for that version. The format number will be changing again in 1.20.5

Minecraft has changed how lots of images work. At the moment I am leaving the record image at the original size and waiting for the next update to test different sizes when that comes out. 1.20.5 is getting close but I always wait for the final version since things jump around too much in the betas.

If your copy of MC just updated then the .jar hasn't downloaded yet. Open the game at least as far as the main menu screen, the .jar downloads right before that screen shows up.

The usual reason that you will have no sound is that the new music file was renamed .ogg instead of being converted to .ogg. Make sure you didn't type .ogg onto the file name.

The disc should auto-eject, nothing in the resource pack should stop that. On the music playing everywhere, you need to convert the music to mono.

Starting in 1.18 the record music will only play for as long as the original disc. The longest disc is blocks at over 5 minutes, so use that one.

There is no difference between 1.20.5 and 1.20.6 as far as this project goes. Some other things have been affected, but not this. Things may change in 1.21 as they are messing around with discs again in the next version of MC. Check your pack for errors, the usual problems are spelling mistakes, and typing .ogg over .mp3 instead of converting to .ogg with a good sound app like Audacity.

Starting in 1.18 MC changed how songs play, they now play for the length of the original song, I have not found out how to change this yet. It is someplace in the hidden coding.

If you are still hearing the original music then MC isn't seeing the new song file. First step check for typos. Next make sure the name of the new file matches the original name exactly, no capital letters. Make sure it was converted to .ogg with a good sound app, I don't trust online converters, those frequently don't make good .ogg files.

Starting in MC 1.18 the song length is limited to the length of the original song. I haven't yet found out where MC is hiding that setting, but it is hidden.

If you are talking about Audacity then they have changed things in the latest release. Now in Audacity go to the File Menu, then Export Audio. Change the file name to match the file you are replacing, set the folder to the correct folder in your pack, set the Format to Ogg Vorbis Files, set Channels to Mono and leave everything else alone. Then hit Export.

I show that in the video, but here it is again. You can download the pack.mcmeta from my website here www.georgepeirson.com/minecraft-pack-mcmeta/, and the pack.png is in the vanilla resource pack, just scroll down the long list of files you see when you first open the pack and you will find it. Of course the pack.png is just a square png image at 128x128, you can make your own if you like.

That works. The only paint program that doesn't work is Microsoft Paint (the old one) since it doesn't work with transparency.

Quick question, how long can my music discs be?

Currently the discs will only play as long as the original song. I haven't found a fix for this yet.

@@crownkicker3609 I just made this video 2 weeks ago. It is as current as you can get at the moment. But a heads up, in the next version (I am guessing it will be 1.20.2) the pack format in pack.mcmeta will be 17, right now it is 15.

sorry, forgot to add in bedrock part. latest bedrock update was for 1.19 so was wondering if worth following those instructions or holding off till the 1.20 came out@@HTGGeorge

@@crownkicker3609The 1.19 Bedrock video works fine for 1.20. In that I show how to get the latest version of the vanilla resource pack, so it is all set to go for 1.20.

i cant export to ogg

If you are using Audacity they have changed things since I made this video. Here is how to save to ogg in the latest update: go to the File menu, choose Export Audio, then in Format set that to Ogg Vorbis Files.

@@cmcg623If the original song is still playing then MC isn't seeing the new file. First look for typos, make sure everything is spelled 100% correctly. Also check to see that all of the folders and folder names are correct. Make sure you are seeing the file name extensions before doing anything else (the .mp3 or .ogg part). If you are working with cat.ogg and you add on .ogg onto the file name without seeing the .mp3 first you will actually be getting cat.ogg.mp3 and MC won't see that. Most of the time if MC is still playing the original song then either the pack didn't load or there is a type.

Hey mate i ran into a problem with the whole name thing whenever i boot up mc with it installed everything works perfectly except for the name which stays the same any idea why? EDIT: I fixed it for anyone wonderinng makee sure your editing the right lang file! to explain in a little more detail since i live in the uk i should be editing the en_gb file and not the en_us file. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXnTfHmXn9B8gqMsi=Ja9DGolJjtG9Yuih This video explains it alot better than i can.

Doesn't matter for this video. I usually record these customiztion videos in creative so I don't have to stop all the time to fight mobs. I also set the game to always daylight and no weather. The packs work the same in any mode. For all of my game play videos I am in survival.
