I found that for my kid it was easier to operate a trigger shifter than these grip shift thingies. Also went with shorter stem, Chinese carbon riser bar and carbon seat post to shave off some weight.

Yip, I think im going to swap the shifter as I want her to learn "normal" riding, and the grop shift seems like more effort than the normal shimano mtb shifters.

Nice to see another kids bike upgrade video. I ended up getting a Nukeproof Cub Scount 20. Has the nice forks but even then they need still hardly move unless they hit some big bumps. The bike could be lighter too. I picked up a nice wee 16" Early Rider for the 4yr old, now those are really nice bikes that have frames actually made for kids unlike the Commencal etc. The major thing that's annoying with the Nukeproof is the Box shifter, it's a bit hard to shift. Would love to replace it. Would need to be a 10 Speed with a Shimano Saint short cage I guess to have a decent shifter. Have you taken her down CAP yet?

No CAP yet, she isn't super good at deciding she is going too fast and slowing down, going to wait until we manage a bottle lake ride without a big full speed crash :)

@@W1DO i really wish bottle lake has a shorter loop for the little ones. I did "family loop" or what ever it's called the other week and the hills are massive! Lots of pushing from me to get them up and careful down.

@@beno9966 I wish they had some decent trail markings/wayfinding, some names for the trails and a trails designed in a way that allows good loops :) I have a a couple of decent little loops from the car park that I do with them, but it's hard to describe since none of the trails have names.

@@W1DO yes! I had to get out the phone with Trail Forks and loop back along one of the roads to cut the distance down. A lot of the sections are also only one way so you kind of get stuck. Both Bottle Lake and McLeans have this issue.
