Something like this, slightly larger, would be great for my crochet hooks! I could even make one for a friend who knits! This is an inspiring project my dude

Thanks for this- not only will I use it to make needlecases, but it occurs to me this will work to make flute cases as well.

Just made this last night... You weren't kidding with the easier pain in the butt part. I used curved needles and it was still a bear! I did enjoy it though. Now I can store my needles in something other than a plastic bag! Skál

Thanks a lot for your video ! I didn't know that I needed to make my own needle case. I want to go to some medieval markets, and it will a great asset to show my craft.

Your needle case came out perfect, you are a master craftsman I can see. Just excellent. Thank you for your video!

THIS Viking loves thus project. I'm also of Chippewa blood and do many crafts in bone. My favorite, and most popular are "bone" sewing needles. This will work real well for them. I'm glad I found your channel.

Yes thanks for this as someone new to leather working these projects will be my first! Thanks again.

To make the carving easier, can you cut the top and bottom pieces as one, carve it, then cut it apart after?
@DarkHorseWorkshop2 жыл бұрын
Someone suggest this earlier in this thread. That's a great idea really. If I was to do another one that's what I would do I think.

Damnit I don't have any scaps laying around - this looks like such a great useful way to utilize scraps

I always wanted one 😍 will try that. Thanks!

Perfect timing! I've been working on making myself a little travel sewing kit to take with me while I'm vending at shows!
@merrymaker10312 жыл бұрын
Medieval style. Accurate construction is somewhat different. Box, and but stitching should be done with an awl for best results.
@DarkHorseWorkshop2 жыл бұрын
I avoid awls if I can. Not sure what about them offers best results but I'm always up to learn.

When you said you cleaned up the bleed through, how did you do this? Is there a way to remove the stain?
@odlief89532 жыл бұрын
Random question Would it it be easier to cut one rectangle do the carving then cut it into the two sections ?
@DarkHorseWorkshop2 жыл бұрын
That's a pretty good idea really.
@MimiPictura2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the idea. Great tip.

Love this!! I am a newb of the highest order. Do you think that this would be a good starter project? Also a reenactor, could you recommend other projects that would fit the SCA parameters? Thanks! Petra
@DarkHorseWorkshop2 жыл бұрын
Depends on time period. Yes this is a great little project with a small variety of useful skills
@scottstephenson95972 жыл бұрын
It would have been a nice free pattern for beginners.
@DarkHorseWorkshop2 жыл бұрын
I just spend so much time on a video and detailing up a pattern that I have to make some money some way. It's not like KZbin ad revenue pays the bills. I imagine people can find a free needle case pattern out there somewhere with a little effort though and a lot of probably go find one after seeing this video.

Hello, Nice needle case. Did you design the pattern yourself ?
@DarkHorseWorkshop2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I saw some pictures, made a pattern. Hardly some unique original idea that's for certain.
@lievesimons88932 жыл бұрын
@@DarkHorseWorkshop strange, I've seen this needle case (without the carving) some years ago, pattern made by Daniel Stabile
what resist do you use that you spray on? Or can you spray any resist? Sorry but I'm new to all this.
@DarkHorseWorkshop2 жыл бұрын
I wouldnt' dive into 'you can spray any resist' but most of them. Acrylic Resolene or Neutral Resolene I spray regularly.
@lukasvoncanal20472 жыл бұрын
Hey, what ounce leather did you use? I only have 8 oz, so I would like to know if that would work
@TheLeathersmithShop2 жыл бұрын
That would be pretty hard to do. I'd go 5-6 MAX. I've made several of these and the thicker your leather is, the farther off it is from your pattern. But you can always try lol

I agree with Vasco.
