I am so elated for you! Just to have Warwick take notice of your artistry is quite a feat. Yet, so impressed were they to send you their premier board kit, and a flight case, is an affirmation of your prowess. You are obviously going to have a better weekend than I. The jam on you board's maiden voyage was lush and textured; as all CiCi compositions. My sincerest congratulations to you. I had no idea that you were fronting the new band! I now anxiously await hearing your vocal. Thank you for posting. An outstanding bit of kit, deservedly so. Cheers!

Weight sawing is pertinent. At least at my age. From age 15 in 1987, I used a 50 watt Marshall and a 4 x 12 cab. That lasted until 2013, when I bought a Fender Twin Reverb reissue. Recently, I've bought a Tone Master Twin Reverb. It's half the weight(!) and all of the sound. And, I don't have to worry about worn out vacuum valves anymore(!). Now, all I have to do, is convince our bass player that he doesn't need his 200 watt valve Orange head anymore... (that thing is even heavier than the valve Twin that I had...)

Your sound and your music style is trippin'. I freaking love it. As an old schooler from the 70's, I can name several psychedelic rockers who would have loved to have had you in their band; namely the likes of Janis Joplin, the original Jefferson Airplane, the Doors, Patti Smith, Iron Butterfly, and maybe even Jimi Hendrix. Keep doing what you're doing, and don't ever sell out to the record companies. You just made another fan, and I'm 66. That oughta speak to you in many ways. I seriously look forward to exploring more of your music on Bandcamp and such. Later.....!

Make sure you get a current doubler and not a voltage doubler for the HX Stomp. You'll also need a center negative 5,5/2,5mm DC plug adapter.

I got my Quad4.1 a couple of years ago and I am still very happy with that and with all Warwick merch and tools, you won't regret it 😉 maybe a bit on the heavy side compared to other simpler boards, but very sturdy indeed. Loved your pedalboard build and the playing at the end of the video (that "breathing" effect is sick!). Greetings from Italy!

I bought an old suitcase and then made a pedal board out of wood. The pedalboard attached to the lid and hinges that can be completely released. Just place the lid on the ground, loosen the hinges and connect. I'm lazy by nature so it shouldn't take much work :)

Great board Cici, sounds magnificent! Question: how big of an impact would you say that the time-based effects on your board have on your overall sound? I can't think of any songs besides 'One of These Days' that utilises such effects to a great extent. Cheers from New Zealand!
@CiciVonStrangelove
@CiciVonStrangelove 11 ай бұрын
Thank you so much Alex! :) Well, if I’m playing alone, and especially if I’m not playing with a looper, time based effects have a huge impact on that as they give me something to latch on to and make me feel really inspired when I play, they also create a bigger sound. In particular the reverse effect (like in this song - kzbin.info/www/bejne/j4LbZoZ9ndmdq8Usi=F36-NhJ7JNyDdBpb ) and delay are two huge ones for me. But in most other scenarios, I mostly just turn them on occasionally to add some extra texture to what I’m doing (I.e a delay set really fast, to accentuate and add texture a solo, or the reverse pedal to add textures to a song over all). The reverse on the Polara plays a huge role in pretty much every scenario though, although it is much less time based than the reverse function on the HX (the one I’m using in that Vox Escort Bass Solo). So, short answer, it really depends what I’m playing :)

You have made me not only love but adore bass! I've moved from guitar to bass as well as lead vocals. We play hard rock/heavy metal. I just want to get a gritty sound. Love my clean sound but the grit(overdriven sound) I cant seem to find. I have the boss odb 3 and well it hates me and I hate it! So I beg for your knowledge... how do I get that grit I'm after, geezer butler kind I'd vibe if that helps. Stay awesome!!
@CiciVonStrangelove
@CiciVonStrangelove 11 ай бұрын
Ahh wow, that’s absolutely awesome to hear!! Thank you so much Ben, I’m honoured :) Enjoy your bass journey! My #1 recommendation for that grit would be the golden Plexi by Tone City (or golden Plexi 2, both work just as well. I’ve used both but have the 2 on my board as they don’t make the first incarnation anymore), out of interest I used it in this cover of paranoid - kzbin.infoGc2e8O6hgGQ?si=sIpsKxGX2kaPefLQ I ran it the same way I always do, it’s difficult to see in this video (as in the one we’re on now, not the cover haha!), because of the blue tape, but I run it with the gain dial about a quarter of the way on (about 9 o’clock), and the tone dial pointed towards the left. That gives it that gritty, but not flat out overdriven sound. The sweet spot on that will vary slightly depending on what bass you’re using, so have an experiment with the gain dial and see what you think sounds best :) That pedal also cleans up nicely if you play more lightly, and gets grittier the more heavy you play, so it’s a great all rounder pedal in my experience! I do have a demo of it here as well if it’s of any help :) it’s also pretty cheap as far as pedals go! Also funnily enough, the boss odb3 was my first ever effects pedal haha! I still have it, but it is a really high gain pedal

I'm a bit baffled that you're mounting your pedals with Velcro - The best thing about the Rockboards (And their big selling point) is their QuickMount system which alleviates the gunky Velcro mess altogether.
@CiciVonStrangelove
@CiciVonStrangelove 11 ай бұрын
I'm doing a separate video on the quickmount system, they gave me velcro to use and I wanted to showcase that it can still be done the old fashioned way if you don't want to buy all the quick mount parts. My pedals all already have velcro on the bottom of them from my old board, so didn't have time to remove all that and try to get rid of all the gunk before filming this video.

Noob question about a pedalboard, can I put a guitar pedal like a rat 2 in a bass pedalboard that will be connected to a bass amp?
@CiciVonStrangelove
@CiciVonStrangelove 11 ай бұрын
Of course! Basically all guitar pedals work with bass, most of my pedals are guitar pedals (I even use the RAT here - kzbin.infohoJQcSAz5Vg?si=VL80TJM2tQvWqNoU ) They can’t damage your amp or anything, in fact some guitar pedals actually sound better on bass :)

As an LA studio player of 45 years, I’ve never heard of this player who appears to be just a bedroom player as most KZbinrs but interesting how having a few viewers will get you some free gear.
@CiciVonStrangelove
@CiciVonStrangelove 11 ай бұрын
You’ve never heard of me, and yet you somehow know for certain I’m just a bedroom player? Impressive… Considering I’ve been gigging live since I was 12. I’ve done various jobs in the music industry (including studio work, just like yourself), I work very hard at what I do. Just because I have an online presence (unfortunately a necessary tool for musicians in this day and age), that doesn’t mean that I ONLY exist online. Me getting this gear is not only due to my KZbin channel and ‘a few viewers’. Please don’t reduce me to that.

Of course she’s not just a bedroom player, but you carry on with your snide little judgements and put downs if that’s what makes you feel good. What a lovely way to spend your precious time in this life by taking to the internet and knocking other musicians. Says such a lot about the type of person you must be 🤷‍♀️
