Thank you, Ricky, very informative! What is the diameter of your cord? Does it dim the sound of the RAV?
@amunraja6 жыл бұрын
Liesbet Leroy I think in a previous video he mentioned it can affect the sustain of the instrument but that's not necessarily bad.
@ReWildYourSoul6 жыл бұрын
Hey there! This rope rim will not change much, but swapping out the plastic part will dampen it a bit. The diameter is .3mm and the spool is about 50 yards. Hope that helps Liesbet! and Thanks Joey!

When i bought my 2019 model (coated) i purchased a braid with my drum. Two things, one is it is rather difficult to put on due to the thickness and two, it really does effect the sustain quite a bit. I have a feeling that is due to the the thickness of the overall braid itself. It comes the brass rim and then some on both top and bottom. One question i have is, will these same measurements work for the 2019 coated models? If so im for sure going to creat something like this with less dense weave. Thanks as always Ricky!

Thank you for this! I had to look up the sizes in centimetres so the sizes should be: approximately 1,90 - 2,00 metres for both loose strings and another 4 metres circa for the solid string. But if I got that right this size can depend on what kind of string you use. I'm trying it with a very thin string so I guess I need more of that. About the space between the two loose strings I'm not quite sure if I got that right but I guess the size between them should be around 3 - 5 cm on both ends. Hope this will help someone :)

There is a much quicker and less back breaking way to tie that where you can just spool the long strand instead of measuring and cutting it. Very cool demo, though. This may be the only demo of this kind of braid on KZbin.

backbreaking is a good word for it! Thanks for the insight Kevin!

oh and your ends you dont have to superglue. when aproaching the end of your old cord lay a new section down to one side or the other along your base cords and tie over it a few rounds, then switch to tieing with the new cord as you lay the end of the old one down by the base cord and tie over it. no knot and hides your ends.

Thanks for the specs and technique. One question: at my area craft stores, I can find 2mm and 4mm cord, but not the 3mm you use in the video. Would it be better, do you think, to go a little thinner (2mm) or a little thicker (4mm) with the cord? Thanks.

I will make .i have 10 inch drum. What length fo i cut?
@namedeleted90053 жыл бұрын
You need to measure the diameter of the drum first, and then multiply that by 3.14 to get the circumference of the drum. That is the length that you need to go around it, and then for the width of the cord, you need to measure the thickness of the flat part of the rim and make the cord twice that thickness so that it covers the whole edge

Hello! I would like to know where you bought the rope? I can't find a long roll of rope anywhere! Thanks
@ReWildYourSoul6 жыл бұрын
hello Miss Nebula! I purchased it at Michael's, but not sure which country you are writing from. They also have them at Joanne Fabric, Amazon (of course) and likely Walmart. You could search Spool of cotton rope and it would probably appear on amazon. If you cant find it feel free to email me and I will help locate it :) Stay well!

Hey Ricky, do you know any American suppliers that sell pre-made ropes for rav? I don't have the time to make my own atm and don't want to pay international shipping just for a rope. Much love brotha!
@ReWildYourSoul3 жыл бұрын
Hey man! Surprisingly, no! I think your best bet would be etsy. Back when i made this, I had aspirations to sell them, but they take such a long time! I am sure there is much faster method, however. A few years ago there were some people on facebook making them in various pages. Will ask around again!
@EsotericHighway3 жыл бұрын
@@ReWildYourSoul right on. I'll check etsy out. Yeah, this looks time consuming. Though it's a good thing to know how to do, and I'm sure it's rewarding when you're done. At this exact moment I'm more than willing to just pay someone for this service haha. PS: Pretty cool that I saw ya on pocketsofthefuture. I've been listening to Paul for years now.
