Hi, made an approximation of your fun design from scrap pine, pallet wood and some 1/8th inch thick clear plastic sheet. Had to buy some ceramic coated screws. Filled it with Monkey nuts and was expecting to wait quite a while for the critters to find it and work out how to use it. Got home from work the following evening to find the feeder EMPTY! (325 Grams - nearly a pound munched!). Refilled it,; same next day; all gone. BUT - noticed lots of little holes in the lawn with monkey nut shells around them. Seems like they're burying the nuts as a winter food source? Stopped filling for a couple of days, then only half filling the box. Now they're only taking aound half of what I give them. Sadly, have not seen them using/feeding yet. Earlier in the year we saw them several times a day (a family of around five critters). Thanks for the design - easy to build and it works.

It is the best and easily understood directions for this type of feeder I have seen. Some of us just need a shove to get our brain in gear. The box was a little deeper than I wanted after it was done but that is easily modified. I used all screws and also screwed a front on that saved some time. Linseed oil on the outside was my choice for outside protection. The front was of an old aluminum for sale sign drilled full of holes. My wood scraps came in handy for the job. I put an angle on the back of the lid just so it would shed water better. It did take some time for them to figure it out. They are used to an ear of corn dangling from a tree limb. over a perch. Great vid . Thank You E.L.

Thanks for the honest ending. It may not have been a raccoon....the squirrels blew mine apart because when it go too low, they climbed inside and pushed it apart! Yes I put it back together with screws the second time. (FYI walmart's 4×6 magnetic plastic picture frames work great, just peel the magnet off the back.)

i would have attached the roof last cause it's in the way when you're installing the window, ahh the music, lose the music

One more thing. Hot glue is a horrible adhesive. Use wood glues and small screws. Wood glue is 15-20 times more durable,

I think the hot glue just holds pieces temporarily until nailed, where wood glue has to be clamped until nailed.

Doesn't the clear plastic shatter if you miss the squirrel while shooting them, and you miss?

You sound hilarious, have you figured it out for yourself yet?
