I watched til the end! I love Basil, he's MY Sherlock, so seeing hm in other movies is such a treat and this was a good one. Im picky about musicals but this one will be saved in my playlist. The ending was beautiful . Bobby and the "mom" had beautiful voices. They don't make movies like this anymore...sigh. Thank you for posting such a gem!

Basil Rathbone was my very first favorite classic actor - and I still love him. Even in light fluff like this, he gives a sincere and polished performance.
@Ddax-td7qy7 ай бұрын
To me, he was always more interesting than Errol Flynn! My whole life, I like a man with a nose. The last 30 years or so it seems to me what they say is a "leading man" is more and more "pug-nosed."

I could hardly believe my ears when Bobby Breen began singing SOPRANO! Heavenly; a voice like an angel.

In the early to mid 1930s Basil Rathbone was being cast often in romantic roles due to his good looks, height, and terrific voice. I heard a radio interview with an adult Bobby Breen in the early 1980s. He was performing on the senior circuit in Florida. A very humble and unpretentious man recalling his early days as a major child singing star.

Basil was such a handsome man and the voice just tops it off, nice sweet film, thanks.

Basil RAtahbone can not only sing, but play the piano VERY well. He considered becoming an opera singer before becoming an actor. Plus he was an olympic standard fencer, and spoke several languages. Dstinguished military service. Renaissance man! (Did I mention that he was related to the Russian royal family?)

WOW, what a wonderful movie. I really liked Basil Rathbone in this one. And young Bobby Breen is a marvel. Pure delight all the way through. We need more romance in our lives. Thank you PizzaFlix for another great movie. I don't know how you do it, but I'm glad you do.

There is an Interview from 2002 in which Bobby Breen called Rathbone, despite often typecasted as the villian, as the nicest man he worked with in Hollywood.

Thank God when the days of my childhood were full of energy & freedom. Even though my up-bringing was strict & maybe not as physically loving as I had needed, at least we could put our trust (a symbol of love) in each other ~ from friends, family & neighbors! It’s hard to believe that a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ (with THE hand shake) was all it took to seal an agreement!
@juliat62215 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean about the physically loving. But one thing for sure, you could depend on your family and friends and yes, even strangers. This country, this world today is crumbling before our eyes. The truth is a lie and a lie becomes a truth. I`m glad I`m on my way out.

Once upon a time movie was made where adults loved kids? Where they were unafraid to say the word God were happy and loved each other? Where it was fun and safe growing up and being a kid and loving nature? No according to the liberal news It was full of racism hatred crime and terrorism!
@almeggs32476 жыл бұрын
I can remember Boy Scout summer camps that were like this movie We were patriotic respected ea others opinions helped ea other just like the scouts code Brave clean reverent :::::: forgot the rest Then when my dad took us to national parks we met the nicest people ever always willing to help and so compassionate I wish my grandkids could experience that upbringing I’m afraid they are losing an important lesson in life!
@alicelowell75496 жыл бұрын
Exactly! they liberals also call that time of the "age of white supremacy". But what supremacy? there were no racism, which you experience everyday today. But there were no "victim groups" either.
@marmeecruz61916 жыл бұрын
I do agree with you except for the last curse.

There was no racism in the 1930s? The Ku Klux Klan, the agent of white supremacy, experienced a rebirth in the 1920s that continued into the 1930s. Lynching of blacks also occurred in the 1930s
