Just in case no one has ever commented on it, you have awesome video editing skills. I like how your machinery sounds are synced to the music. That's so cool. And I just love your attitude to woodworking and your emphasis on creating. Thank you so much for your videos, plans, and your effort.

Thanks, Jay. I made a tip out trash can a few months ago to keep my beagles out of the garbage and I have been wanting to do a smaller one for recyclables. Your design looks great. I'll probably reduce its height by half to fit the plastic bin I use now and put a drawer in the bottom to hold the trash bags. Thanks!

Awesome video!! My Uncle made these for many of our family members ages ago and they have withstood the test of time. With a simple Google search the internet lead me to this video quickly. Thanks again and keep up the good work.

I love these and you did an awesome job! (Tell your wife, that I said she is lucky to have such a creative woodworking husband!) My uncle did tons of wood creations. I need this for my 2 kitchen trash cans (1 trash 1 recycling) I hope to show you later how they turn out, but now I am tiling the floor. thanks for a great video!!!!! This was exactly what I had in mind.

Great video Jay, you could do so many things with that design. Is that a little heat iron that you are using for your label on the underside at the end? I've been experimenting with labeling my projects a ton and its coming along but seems to always be difficult to get consistent results, but that little device you have is interesting.

Nice project, as usual. I like how you don't mess around and get right to work. There's a guy out there, I won't mention his name but, wish him well, however, he'll talk a project to death, before he he even picks up a hammer!

Awesome Jay! Can you make one with a bottom drawer (with a concealed pull-out knob) in the back side to keep extra trash bags?
@JayBates
@JayBates 10 жыл бұрын
Hey Ed. Here's a link to the current trash can I have. It has a bottom drawer. I love the design but we have since started staining everything dark and the amber shellac just doesn't fit our decor anymore. So, I will be building this exact same trash can but in a darker color pretty soon. It's shaped so that you can actually fit 4 pizza boxes in it with the lid shut :) jayscustomcreations.com/2013/03/horse-shoe-theme-trash-can/

This piece has a bunch of possibilities and uses! 3 immediate ideas that come to mind besides a trash bin is a laundry bin, for my cat's food ;^) and also a tablet stand to play Pac man. It hit me like a Pac man retro table I use to play back in the day lol. Good times. Neat project Jay for sure I'll make one of these. Happy holidays!

Besides enjoying the great projects and video editing, I am curious how you're getting such good lighting in what is normally a dim look (on camera at least) environment. SHops and garages may be lit well enough for the human eye to work in, but normally that is not enough for the camera. Are you using extra lighting?

Did you use heat for the logo transfer? I've been doing John's lacquer thinner transfer method but haven't seen this before.
@JayBates
@JayBates 10 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the wood burning kit came with a flat "image transfer" tip so I tried it out. Works a lot better than the lacquer thinner method and no use of chemicals. Practice it on some scrap wood though. It took about 4 or 5 attempts to get the hang of it.

Still need to be laser printed?
@JayBates
@JayBates 10 жыл бұрын
Yes. A laser printer works by heating up the toner to fuse it to the paper. All your doing is reheating it to transfer it to the wood.

You put a plastic trash can inside the wood box. The wood is decorative and hides the actual trash can.

Yes, It fits over the side of the can and the lid rests on top of the can to hold it in place.
