Thanks for sharing how you created this. It looks like a lovely setup. See if you could have a fixed-focus on the camera. At the beginning the focus was often shifting in and out of the tank, and I found it hard to concentrate.

Great video - can I ask how you maintain the plants? Do you need to add co2 or nutrients to the water? Also assuming minimal fish whats the water maintenance schedule? Thank you
@joostwoertman72244 жыл бұрын
Nice to see a follow up on this system. How the tank evolves over time would be really helpfull to see. I started out with a similar setup. But after two months changed the internal filter to an external filter. (They are actually both running at the moment). I find it hard to get rid of debris/fish excrements during water changes, eventhough I am using a gravel vacuum cleaner from Dennerle.

Hey Joost! Ik heb zojuist een update foto geupload op mijn KZbin community tab. Het interne filter is inderdaad niet heel krachtig... heb je met het externe filter erbij wel een goeie flow?
@joostwoertman72244 жыл бұрын
@@MJAquascaping er zit een redelijk goede flow in de tank. Heb ook de Eheim 350 skimmer erin. Het externe filter is een biomaster 600 thermo. Ik had eerlijk gezegd een veel sterkere flow van deze filter verwacht.

@@MJAquascaping The Juwel 180 tank fits 2 T5 tubes, do you think it's enough for a planted tank? I see a lot of planted tanks of that size running at least 4 tubes. I am fairly new to this so I am not sure if it matters. Hope to hear your thoughts on this.

Hey mate, really enjoying your videos. I just got a new tank after not keeping fish for 7 years while I lived in UK. I just got myself a Juwel Rio 180 too. I noticed that you have not installed the 45 degree outflow pipe, is this to mimic a lily pipe? Was this intentional? I have the 45 degree pipe on point towards the front centre of the tank and level. This provides a small amount of surface disturbance. I have my co2 diffuser (pressurised) in the same location as yours. Would you recommend additional filtration or a wave maker in these tanks to distribute the co2? I’m going very heavy planted as you suggest. Mixture of fast growing and slow growing. Hair grass carpet with stems, crypts, swords in the back. Java moss and fern in there on my hard scape. Have used Aquaforest lava soil for substrate. Aqua soil not available in New Zealand. Also have to substitute shrimp for something as can’t get Amano here. Thinking ramshorn snails, can get otocinclus and sae. Thanks and sorry for the long comment.
@MJAquascaping3 жыл бұрын
Heya! We removed the outflow pipe so we could point the flow directly towards the CO2 diffuser. I always prefer to have the flow going clockwise or in this case counterclockwise. Sounds like you have made a good plan! I like it! Curious to see your scape
@shrpls3 жыл бұрын
@@MJAquascaping Cool thanks man. I cut my outflow pipe down so it's just straight now. Simply removing it created a noisy vibration. Flow and Co2 distribution now appears much better. I get the rest of my plants delivered either tomorrow or next day so would love to share with you once planted.

@@SpiritAquatics hey, I have Rio 180 aswell and it looks similar to this video. I have roots and silverstone, but after 5 days something around the wooden root formed and it looks like milk or spider web. You can see it on this video in top left branch at 9:52. I cleaned it all by hand and water became muddy. I can't explain but it looks like milk in water, or spider web in water. Not much, filter cleaned it up later but i wonder what that is. I was told that one month needs to pass for it to be formed properly and bacteria to create a good balance of eco system. Is that true or I fked something up :D
