This was well done! Very easy to follow. I am interested in learning how to make a shorter sleeve that has a slit in it. Or one that overlaps but has the slit on the outside of arm.

Wonderful explanation, easy to follow steps, THANK YOU! Just one question - the pattern when drafted like this - does it include seam allowance or should I add it when cutting the fabric?

Hello, thank you for the tutorial. However, I’m confused as to how do you get point A. You said total sleeve width/8. Is the measure of the sleeve width used to get a the same sleeve width we get from taking armhole circumference - cap height? Or is it another value of sleeve width?

Thanks for the easy to understand video. One think I'm not clear on though is the calculation for A. Is the 'total sleeve width' the same as the 'total sleeve length' or the 'sleeve width'?

If i come from the bodice video where seam allowance is included, does that mean it is included too for the sleeve block? I took the arm hole measurement from my bodice block

Hello Coraline. Shouldnt be the sleeve cap size always bigger than the armhole circumference? My sleeve cap comes out 3 cm smaller than the armhole.
@coralinestreet Жыл бұрын
Hello, my dear. It doesn't need to be bigger than the armhole circumference, unless you're making something more form fitting, like a blazer. But the extra ease can in fact help when sewing the sleeve to the bodice depending on the inserting method. In the end, it can have the same measurement, which is how I prefer, or be a little bit bigger, but it definetly shouldn't be smaller. I'm not 100% sure what could have gone wrong. This is the method I use for basic sleeves and it has always been the right fit for the garments I have made. Did you make the sleeve to fit a basic bodice/garment? Or was it a garment that needed a bigger sleeve cap height, like a blazer, how I mentioned in the vieo? Tell me some more information so I can research and help you out. In this case, since 3cm it's not such a big differente, you can add this extra measurement to the total armhole circumference before drafting the sleeves. Or even add a bit more, if you want it to be bigger than the armhole circumference. I prefer it the same length, but it's up to you. You could also extend the edges on each side by 1,5cm. Since it's just 1,5cm on each side, I don't think it will be a fit problem.

Hey I don't know what I'm doing wrong but it seems that my sleeve (after drawig it from the measurements I got) is completly not correct. My armhole is 57,5 and when I finish drawing the sleeve it's like 54cm. What should I do?
@fairygust76588 күн бұрын
Just a thought, but maybe the pattern does not include seam allowance?

Pls the arm arm hole circumference is it both back and front that we will divide or only one side
@coralinestreet8 ай бұрын
The armhole circumference is the measurement of the front curve + the back curve! But not the total amount of both armholes added up, only one side of the bodice, since we're making 1 sleeve!

And how to adapt the cutinf bit to a clothe to make the actual garment !?? This is seriously complicated
@kiki9627Ай бұрын
This is a tutorial to make a *pattern* - like if you're wanting to make a puffed sleeve, you wouldn't cut out the basic sleeve with your fabric and then cut it into strips to separate. You would do that to PAPER, draw up your *new* pattern piece and use *that* to cut out your fabric in one big piece.
