4:36 got confused here ... u typed "hey friends" but then Dylan bates shows up in succession..how did that happen? did u add two more text bubbles and add "Dylan" and "bates" back to back or what also why did you uncheck build out in motion(before export).. if ur just gonna click build out again in Final Cut?

so I was just thinking the same things and i remembered Dylan doing a video on Captionator, there is a built-in animation IN/OUT. Although I don't think, it provides the flexibility to play with the positioning of the drop shadow/ outline.

Okay so most of the time it works great. But sometimes when I export the file, some of the words will be cut off. Is this a glitch with the motion or with Final Cut? It can be fixed by playing with the size and what not, but then I have to keep exporting my file until it isn’t glitched. Do you have a solution to this problem?

did not know i needed this. thanks so much hahah next thing for me to figure out is how to more efficiently “animate” a subtitle. like if someone is saying “uhhhhh” and the subtitle also says “uhhhh” but the number of “h”s increases as the person is still saying “uh”. i have a very… annoying way to do it, which is by adding on a character to a new text layer every couple frames or so depending on pacing, lol but i’m sure there’s a better way.

What's the best way to have the captions auto-generate the actual text in FCP? This was amazingly helpful to snazz them up, no doubt, but if I have to watch an entire video manually typing in every single word, that's not exactly easy.. What's the secret there, bound to be one, as plenty of little free apps can do this, just not easily in FCP. Thanks in advance!!

It's possible you're on an HDR timeline! You'll need to either be on an SDR timeline, or you can go into motion, select your project at the top of the layers tab, then go into properties on the left side, and change the color processing from SDR to HDR. Hope that helps!

Yes you can! You’ll need to add a folder in your Movies folder entitled Motion Templates.localized (the .localized is important for it to work) Then add a folder inside that entitled Titles.localized Then you’ll drag the template in and you should be set! I believe you’ll also need FCP 10.4 or newer. If you have any problems, let me know!

First off, thank you for the tutorial. I did as you explained, everything works fine, until, I export. Then some of my titles are differently formatted or they're at a different position. Even though I set all the settings to the first one and then just change the wording of the following titles. Got any idea why that might be? Help you be highly appreciated. Hey there! Sometimes there are some weird bugs from Motion templates in FCP. A good way to mitigate this can be to render those sections before export. If you just select the title and press Ctrl R, that can fix it. Also something I didn’t realize at the time of making this tutorial, but it can also help to set your templates to the same resolution and frame rate as what you typically use in FCP. It’s not vitally important, but sometimes can also help with this issues. Hope something like that works for you!

Yes I use captionator! Captionator has worked amazingly for me. But I have heard from a lot of people it doesn't work for them. I am not sure what the difference is. But just keep that in mind if you think about picking it up!

@@TheFinalCutBro Cheers for the warning & Yeah, I gave it a crack but it wont work for me. Wont even load the vids, I think the software is bugged out and not compatible anymore. FCP also has some bugs on Ventura 13.4 with media library not connecting (Photos Mac). Could all just be an Apple issue. I hope it gets sorted soon, I tried to contact Brian Murry but no response yet. Ill have to find another solution.

I hadn't heard of those channels before you mentioned them here! Just watching them, you 100% could make videos on the same level as them. Their videos are very strong in story. While their editing is good, you are definitely more engaged with the videos because of the story they are telling. But all the graphics work they do, you could easily replicate with a plugin like AddMotion in Final Cut Pro, or you could do everything yourself using Motion. Great suggestion! I will see if I can implement it in the future!
