Awesome, love the humanising tips! I really enjoy your videos and aesthetic tastes, good vibes :D One thing to be aware of when layering - if you apply filtering on the low end then you create a phase shift around the curoff frequency that might mess up your phase alignment (that's just how filters work, at least in digital afaik).

Yea thanks dude, there are so many nuances to music production/mixing! I'm still constantly trying to learn and improve myself as I make these tutorials. I've definitly heard about filters/EQ offsetting phase but its something I gloss over quite a lot! I would probably be better practise to set filters 1st and then phase align but most of it seems goes out the window once you start making a track :)

Great video! Question: why not use the time stretch modes provided by renoise for beat sync? Do they introduce artifacts you don't like? CPU load?

Thanks mate! Yea the Repitch mode in Renoise is great but obviously pitches the the sound around to warp it to your tempo. The other modes - percussive/textural introduce a lot of artifacts and I rarely ever use them. Ok for sound design but not so good for high-quality stretching. The gate-to-tempo method is cool as it also allows for a bunch of other tricks - kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJLEl2SulJKrnMU
