I have always loved using terrain pieces to store miniatures. All my former PCs hang out in the bar scene on my shelf along with the mushroom guys.
@boinkmcbingo8890 Жыл бұрын
That sounds bad ass. Is it an enclosed building that comes off the floor or just a 2 wall facade ?
@Blandco Жыл бұрын
@@boinkmcbingo8890 it's actually just the floor and furniture. It was meant to be inserted in with other tiles

I play online but have been keeping track of all my PCs (including one-shots). I was going to make each one as a mini diorama (or wider-based miniature), but populating a tavern could be really fun!

It’s great to see you keep your builds approachable for every level of builder. Eventhough you have years of experience, your videos give that sense of: “I could do that. I should give that a try.”
@lindybeige Жыл бұрын
I'd have put the candles near the rises of the steps to leave where you put them free for minis. Might also have made the candlelight easier to depict.

Maybe affix them to basic mini bases. You can then paint them and apply the lighting effect without altering the terrain itself. This also might encourage players/monsters to interact with them in order to either use the candles in a novel way (lighting your way, setting a patch of oil alight, as signal batons to signal allies at a distance, etc.), or to just extinguish/destroy them to eliminate the light. It would also be fun when your players become used to them in your games, but then suddenly are ambushed by a mob of animated candlesticks. Just a thought I had.

I really love the effects you used to create an evil battleground for miniatures. I always struggle in my own story builds to create just the right effect I need to portray a specific scene. So thank you for making my miniature world a little less struggle and more effective. I appreciate it very much 😊

I found that the easiest and best result with blood effects and spatter is to use Golden high flow acrylics color Alizarin Crimson Hue. You can paint it, spray it, flick it, blow it, or stipple it. Works great with some texture paste or fake snow to make chunky body scraps too. Enjoy! And thank you for making these videos, you help more than you know.

Great video, honestly was creating an adventure in my head as you were making this, cultists are simple but so versatile thatvno matter the level they work so well as villains and this build is perfect for a lair, abandoned lair, ritual site, etc very awesome!! :)

In the Ancient Island of Crete, In Mycenae at Peloponisos , at Delphi and in Acropolis Athens you will find these kind of stairs were you can make 1-2 regular steps inside the margin of the steps of the stair...so YES!!! also niiiiice build!!! easy too

OMG this type of structure reminds me of the Horde slime pit with the reds and gray stone. It is "simple" Ig but I love it. There is a lot to be said about a piece's iconic silhouette.

Honestly, I think the idea of larger steps can work for something like this outside of just playability, like they were designed for some eldritch beast with long spindly legs, or for a hulking skeletal lich that once used this altar for its own means. Awesome work as always, Jeremy!

Great piece. And that's a good point you made about using terrain pieces AS the display for models, especially stairs like this. Not sure I would have attached the candles permanently.... Narrows down the multi-use flexibility, but there would be a problem of the candles constantly falling over otherwise..... Hmm....

This project turned out awesome! I love the more simple way that you did this what with the monolithic stone look! I'm going to get myself a fist-size rock for a deeper stone texture as well since it looks so cool on your piece! Sick. Gave me crazy Nyarlathotep cultist vibes. I could see a group of investigators battling their way up the stairs, shooting and hacking insane cultists as they go, all in a vain attempt to stop the summoning of an avatar of the dark god. Only for the horror to manifest at the top of the stairs, represented by a cool, gore painted mini.

There’s a museum in Cincinnati that used to be a train station. No idea if the stairs to the museum were around back then, but they’re probably around 5ft wide. So these stairs are realistic, depending on the purpose and desirable use by cultists.

Fantastic build. So metal. Cultists are really useful in adventures, as they justify all kinds of horror, evil, and secrecy. Their members are fanatics, so they will gladly fight to the death in service of their cause, in a way other intelligent creatures might balk at. And they draw upon all manner of temporal or otherworldly forces, so they can scale in threat to whatever is needed for the party's power level. Indeed, in a sandbox campaign, this will happen naturally; if the party neglects to deal with the cult, they'll be free to acquire more power and summon greater evils. Best part is, the players don't need to feel bad about killing them. They're madmen worshiping malign intelligences from beyond the world, and doing atrocities in their name. Nor are they available to be reasoned with. The more the PCs learn about the cult, the more they'll WANT to kill them all. Sometimes a morally nuanced foe is best. And sometimes it's best to pit the party against enemies they're entirely justified in wiping out.

I'm doing a BUNCH of OSL on my most recent Warmachine army, and my accidental discovery for flame colored OSL is Fluorescent orange, then with the last drop or so off paint add Fluorescent OrangeYellow, then with the last drop or so add bright-ass-yellow and its basically cheating it works so well... I use golden highlow acrylics fluo orange and fluo yellow, and some GSW Cyber Yellow but i suspect one of golden's yellows would work just as well but its what i have :)
