It could be interpreted that as the games advanced and the colour palette brightened it was supposed to represent the turning of the tide, hopes being fulfilled. As for the rest of your comment, Gears 2 was entirely focused on all out war. It was literally about taking the fight back to the Locust and had the most epic set pieces of the series to date. Why do you think the Seriously 2.0 achievement was designed around killing 100,000 enemies? Because Gears 2 was designed with much larger scale and scope as compared to the first.

Do you hate it because it's centered on Kait? That's a really dumb reason if that is your motivation behind your discontent for the game. Real things I had problems with in this game, I wasn't to fond of the open world. We have to many open world games and most of them are empty and more of a chore to explore than anything, with boring side quest that detract from the main story without adding anything relevant to the game universe.

At least the multiplayer hasn't changed really. The thing i liked about the campaign was how it tides some lose ends from gears of war 2. And Fahz. And of course is always good to see Marcus, Cole, Baird, Clayton and even Paduk. But Del, JD, Kait and Jinn feel a bit flat. And the swarm has not as good enemies ether. I Miss playing against berserkers and nemesis. But i don't think it was bad. But i get why you didn't like it.

That and gears now has a problem with creating a 3 men and 1 women squad first and then adding washed up personalities to them.Judgement did it right cause the previous games and comics had already established good backgrounds to the characters but now there is always that one girl just shoved in between 4 dudes which just ruins the chemistry.It would look weird to shit talk and use violent language now.
