Actually, this is exactly how I am able to get inspired and get things done around my home. I’m a married, retired, empty-nester of homeschoolers and I kind of lost my way for a bit after the last birdie left. After finding your channel and a few others, I am now discovering a brand new feminine lifestyle of home-making. I love to listen and learn while I go about my day. And my husband is getting a wife with a renewed passion for life. Thank you, thank you.

I like to watch KZbin videos when I'm washing dishes at night, as well as when I'm folding laundry. I'm very guilty of being distracted by Facebook and Instagram, but I'm making some progress! I've started waiting one hour after waking up before I do any social media. It is so refreshing, and keeps me from wasting the time that I want to be using for Bible study.

Jennifer, honestly you are a wonderful example for women & men to function as responsible adults. I have discovered your channel & what I first recognized is that you are so practical. The advice you give, you do implement it yourself & you admit your shortfalls. What is even more admirable about you is that you are displaying to other women to have poise, which is lacking in society. You give a wonderful balanced life & I want to let you know I appreciate your message & it is assisting my life as a wife & treating with home life.

The children definitely copy us at home, which. Love. My 5yr old son loves tidying his room and planning his outfits! It just fills me with joy. He spends so much time with mummy. He's a real boyish boy too, loves soccer and fighting etc. but the softness of home is definitely inside of him too.

Instead we had set times when we watched a VHS from the library ( eg. Jane Austen movies,Road to Avonlea,Christy etc) Thank you again!

On an iPhone, if you go to settings>battery and scroll down it shows you exactly how long you have spent on different apps over the last 24 hours and 7 days! It tells you the percentage of your battery used on that app and then if you click on it, it tells you the actual time, in hours, that you've spent on that app! It's a real eye opener!!

I folded a good third of my laundry basket listening to you this morning! I will often use my screen time as an incentive to get things finished quickly and to be focused; saying if I get x done in this amount of time, I'll play for 15-30 mins. I love playing Minecraft, designing houses and castles and gardens--it's frivolous, but it's creative fun that can (so long as I set a timer and not waste large portions of my day) help to reset or recover my energy for other things.

I didn't realize this was a thing other people struggle with.....I have noticed that in times of stress and when I am feeling overwhelmed with all the things I have to do (which, I am a SAH, homeschooling mom to 5 boys ages 7 and under so it is very frequently) I find myself just checking out and getting on my phone to just relieve that a bit, and like you said, distract myself. I do enjoy watching/listening to cleaning videos as I work. I'm currently washing my floors and listening to you because I know I can learn something, but paused to answer. :)

I always watch KZbin chats while folding the laundry... makes my least favorite task (besides maybe cleaning the toilet) go by faster. If I can find an apron with a pocket then I can even do the toilet while listening to a podcast haha... Great tip!

Hi Jennifer, as soon as I started watching your video, that flower bouquet caught my eyes and you looked so pretty by that bouquet. Love her idea. This topic is very relatable to me too. My biggest distraction is my IPhone . I had to deactivate my Facebook because it's too much for me. I had to keep scrolling all the time to see what other people liked and shared including strangers who were not in my friends lists. So thought it's a waste of time for nothing. But Yes! I always watch KZbin videos and listen to the songs while I m doing my chores . But somehow I never watch your videos while doing something else because I want to fully enjoy and focus just on your videos without any distractions. I would save it for later if I m busy or I would watch after finishing all the chores. I want to give full attention to watch your videos. They are so interesting ,realistic and inspiring to watch. I m already excited and looking forward to your next video. Keep them coming. Lots of love and hugs from Swiss.

So keep on bringing the dark sides to the light - by doing that you inspire and help a lot :-)

Love your videos. You make an excellent point. My biggest downfall with distractions is my iPad....or should I say iPads (I have more than one so when the battery gets depleted on one, I can easily pick up a freshly charged device). This is a MAJOR temptation to sink into distractions 24/7, since I can easily short myself on sleep as well, as I peruse information on multiple apps. One type of device that provides every major distraction I become sidetracked with: news junky, Netflix and HBO NOW for binge watching favorite programs, and the endless clicks on KZbin videos. Sigh. I hypocritically say that "I don't watch television"...because I don't. It's much worse with the iPad as it allows me to avoid commercial breaks and "keep on going". I even have Scribd- which tempts the avid reader in me. I pick out a book and always-'ALWAYS- have trouble putting the reading aside. With the iPad, I don't have to ever leave a secluded room I love for the privacy and quiet it offers. Of course, everything truly important in life is then pushed aside. The iPad- on one hand one of the greatest inventions in terms of access to info I seek...and on the other, an very negative accomplice in that it allows me to be my worst enemy in terms of living the kind of life my heart truly desires and seeks.

Social Media or the internet in general is a HUGE distraction for me. I am a very curious person so I am always looking things up or reading up on the news. Hi Jennifer, I came across your talk from my beloved TED and have since loved your online presence. You mentioned that your girls love your KZbin videos. So a thought came to me: Perhaps on occasion, you can coach them to put together 10-item Kid's Wardrobe? Sometimes my distraction is a nap, and here's why...to spend any time with my husband it is late at night when he gets home. Then my mornings are early with the kids....and everything in between suffers while I am exhausted. I drift off in thought for a nap, and if I give in for a nap I feel guilty for not getting enough done. It becomes a viscous circle of exhaustion trying to do it all so when I look at something that needs cleaning I just can't muster the energy to do it all each day. How do you have so much energy?
