April, it has been 5 months since I watched one of your videos ( my son Bert required major surgery on his foot and ankle and could not walk on the foot since then. ) Playing nurse, cook, washer woman, and taxi for him tired me to no ends and sewing was just not in the picture. This evening I went to you tube and saw your smiling face and I knew I had to watch your video. I hope to sew together a quilt as soon as my son will be able to return to his second floor apartment. Thank you for inspiring us to make more quilts.

You are such a good Mom. I pray for Bert’s full recovery and for you to be able to get back to seeing soon. I am glad you are back. Hugs April

Hello April Finally am where I have wifi and can watch you again. I just bought a new 3 yard quilt book and when I am in a fabric store I think in yards of fabric too but I’m like you I always do something different to the pattern so I always get a yard and a half of each one so I’ll have enough to do the experimenting I want to do and make a wider border than she says, but I love her books. A friend of mine wants me to make her daughter-in-law sunflower quilt so while I’m here at my mamas, we went to Joann fabrics, and she got the material for me to make her daughter-in-law a quilt and I’m gonna make one that takes 2 yards of fabric make a bigger size so anyway I just hope you got your card your birthday card and hope you have a happy birthday. Enjoy watching you. I have two baby girl quilts I need to make too. My sister is finally going to have a granddaughter so she will be caught up with me four boys and a girl. You take it you take care and happy birthday

I also shop with three yards of three different fabrics as my usual focus unless I am actually planning a specific pattern. I always know that finding those three yards will make me a quilt although I like a double binding so I usually get a little more fabric of one of the fabrics or plan on using the backing fabric for my binding too. I think I have almost every one of their books and I always watch their videos. Thanks for sharing the fun you had making this adorable quilt, and the stripe turned out good. Happy quilting…………

I just finished the quilt from hell! I started this quilt 7 months ago. It was a panel and I added a border. Decided to quilt it myself, as the long arm wouldn’t have it ready for his birthday in four weeks. I got sick, husband got sick. Didn’t get it done by the birthday. Decided to give it for Christmas. But decided to make Advent calendars for the three grandchildren. Didn’t get quilt, done for Christmas. Used bamboo batting for quilt. Fuzzies everywhere. Discovered I’m allergic to the fuzzies. Watering eyes, runny nose, sneezing. Pushed on with quilting, and sewing machine broke. Got it fixed. Took about 10 days. Quilted it some more, and iron broke. Couldn’t iron binding for a few weeks u til I could get a new iron. Realized when I started binding, that the backing had shifted during the quilting so had to figure out a fix. Took about 3 weeks to figure a fix. Made the fix. In between all this, I put my back out, got sick again, and lost momentum. Finished binding a few days ago. Can’t wait to give it to grandson. Planned on seeing them today, but car broke down last night. I swear, this quilt just doesn’t want to leave home!

Nice video April. Love that you leave in the oops. 🙂 The 3-yard quilt patterns are quick but they aren't big enough. With a finished width of 46" or less I don't see how it would cover an adult if they were sitting on the couch or a chair. I have several of the free patterns and I've bought a few of the books but I haven't made anything yet. I'll have to draw it out to add more columns and rows to make it bigger.

In my most recent attempt at a 3yard quilt, I mixed up my fabrics 2 and 3. I had cut them as per the instructions but just got muddled in my head. Imagine my surprise when I had lots of fabric 3 leftover and not enough fabric 2 to make the next required blocks. Thankfully, I found a different fabric I could substitute in. Now I have strips of fabric 3 to use for a different quilt. lol. Luckily I caught my mistake early enough to make the quilt top look like the picture in the book. Next time I will label the fabrics instead of relying on my fleeting memory. Lol.
