I would say most cuts/wounds/road rashes, etc, gauze pads are not necessary. Just let it scab over and spray it 2-3 times a day with hydrogen peroxide. That's what I do, works perfectly. Gauze sponges though are quite useful. I have like 800 gauze sponges. Stocked up on them. One last thing. Get a modern tourniquet, the one where you twist and lock into place. I would not bet my life on that Johnson Johnson one.
