I know I'm late to the party, but I just got a Morphagene finally and I'm blown away at its capabilities. The layout and design are just so clever and inspiring for delving into the architecture of the interdimensional abyss. Please send rescue crew if I don't come out of studio in 30 days.

William Burroughs! This is why Make Noise and modular in general is the place to be! I love everything about this.

Just got my Morph and it's astounding. I can't leave it alone. Can anyone advise the best way hook it up to a 0 Ctrl (I also have the Strega) to get these kind of results ? I am quite new to the 0 ctrl.

Burroughs - cut up father on Morphagene - awesome. I sampled Bukowski with mine.

I'm not fortunate enough to own a Morphagene but over the last six months I've been doing a lot of granular work with Burroughs, Bukowski, Gertrude Stein, T.S. Eliot, etc. I have a decent collection of poets reading their works being a long time goober lover of verse. As I write, it occurs to me now would be an ideal time to work with Ginsberg's "Hum Bomb." There is something about working with spoken voice (I'm not a fan of working with singers) that has taken over my work. When I heard the Morphagene earlier this morning on Twitter, I giggled at the irony and then turned green, envious of anyone who can afford such lovely piece of gear. Thems the breaks. Old Chuck has such a great voice, though, doesn't he? The perfect amount of gravel to mix in with the smoother voices. Stein is probably my favorite to chop, though Burroughs is great fun, into little milliseconds of granular joy. Her "A Portrait of Picasso" has given me a lot of pleasure both manipulating and just listening to it as it is over and over... She foreshadowed Burroughs cuts through her use of repetition and syntactical disordering; to hear her read is to get lost in rhythms novel to the world. I've always felt she heard words the Oliveros heard sound.

Any Beat writer would be a nice complement. Don't know Stein's voice so we'll. The Burroughs bit put me over the line to get the Morph...their (MakeNoise) recognition of the lineage of cut ups means the spirit is in this module. Buk sounds great in it - next to put him through the frequency shifter...

For sure. The Beats are great for these periods of time. I think I have some recordings of Jack reading from his little Book of Blues. It's too bad he didn't do a narration of Visions of Cody because a lot of the book is actually transcribed from tape. There are some great descriptions of mundane things like coffee counters too. I'm sure they would chop up nicely. Oh, I am sure Charles does sound great through it. I'm completely in love with his voice. He recorded a lot. There is a great reading he did at City Lights bookstore. He starts off essentially sober and drinks through the whole thing so you get to hear his voice change and even more than his voice his attitude. The sound quality of the Morphagene coming from KZbin is enough to set one salivating; I bet Bukowski really does sound amazing when you are getting it live and in person. I admit I was impressed to hear Bill when the video started myself. Being built with knowledge of early cutting definitely adds credibility and spirit to it. Let's just hope the spirit doesn't come with his Burrough's predilection for needles. ; ) Sucks being a poor college student. I want one sooooo bad. I would totally livestream as many sessions with it as MakeNoise would deem appropriate compensation to have them kick me one and preach the gospel far and wide lol. Here is a link to the particular reading of Stein's I've been using: www.dropbox.com/s/c2e9xgwhk2a803r/Stein-Gertrude_If-I-Told-Him-A-Complete-Portrait-of-Picasso.mp3?dl=0 I was going to point you to the site but there are several different recordings and this one is my particular favorite. Some of them are of poor sound quality and unfinished drafts. I got it from here: www.writing.upenn.edu/pennsound Lots of of authors to choose from. They have some video too if you have any use for it. I've been thinking about grabbing some to mess with in Max. Have fun with the site and if you put anything online, I would love to hear it. As far as I know, it is the largest repository of recorded poets available on the web. If you or anyone who happens to read this knows of others, it would be awesome if you could share the link(s). Have fun, Andrew! Don't be gentle.

If I sample anyone’s voice it will be that of uncle Frank Zappa- he certainly would have appreciated the MG’s statistical density, whether in its basic form or otherwise..

For a relative noob at modular, is this too difficult to get a handle on? It looks really inteestign but I don't feel like it is something very intuitiv to use.

This video was made with monophonic audio. Note that only the L output of the Morphagene is patched. You should at least hear audio in both ears though, but it should be identical from left to right.
