Being confident in speaking even when you know you’re saying things incorrectly can still give people the impression that you are fluent. If your English is perfect but you hardly speak people will think it’s because you can’t speak fluently. Confidence is key.

Hallo, Gabby! I'm an English teacher in Kazakhstan. I want to work as an interpreter for an IT company but I'm confused about my English whether I'm fluent or not. I haven't been working since 2015. Earlier I worked at school with volunteers from the US, that was great time I could practice my English.

Hey, Gabby 🙋. Have you ever heard someone speaking an extremely broken English, but without hesitation and in a very fluent way? I've come across with this kind of people several times, and I can't believe how confident they are, even when it's hard to understand what they are trying to say. I remember a student of mine who had a heavy Argentinian accent. His English was in a beginner level, but his fluency and confidence were advanced 😄.

Sound advice. Another trick is to say what you can, not necessarily exactly what you want to say. So you end up saying something similar enough and get your point across, and it’s correct. All by using phrases you are familiar with. Some English L2 speakers just make up their own phrases and it sounds weird. Store natural phrases in your memory and spit them back out when you need them. I tend not to use phrases unless I’ve heard them before.

Confidence helps but isn't enough to make oneself prove that he's a regular speaker like people having an English-medium background and in that case, there's every chance to prove himself unfit to be chosen by people who want someone fluent in English in their association. Although it's true, grammar isn't always strictly followed in speaking it - even in native-speaking. But one should know well enough how English is spoken by the native speakers in a certain state to make a living. Rigorous practicing is the only remedy to generate confidence in oneself to make knowledgeable people admit you speak with needed fluency and accuracy as there's no fooling in the real world to get away with what you are not. The practicing methods you suggested here are greatly helpful and talking to oneself aloud might be added. All the same thanks a lot for I learned a huge amount of conversational English not only from this video but from all the videos I've watched.
