@michaelaschmid5 жыл бұрын
That would be amazing! Will you link me when you're done? I'd love to see that. When I was reading up they said berries work very well also, so the reds are covered, and different types of soil for the browns. The blues are a bit of a question mark for me. I had high hopes for the irises. They have so much pigment that they stained my fingers as I was picking them, but the color didn't hold at all. Next spring I want to try blue primroses and maybe corn flowers if I can get a hold of them.

I definitely will! I guess it makes sense now why most old-time blues were made with minerals.... maybe flowers will always turn green? I'll have to look into it.

hey, another question. I understand you added silica. from reading online, I understand breathing it is not healthy. Can you write more about the silica you added, do you use a mask for safety?
@MJBpeace4 жыл бұрын
From pharmacy prespective, it is a very light powder, so it easily flies, also static, so it will stuck on your spoon. Once it is wet it won't fly anymore. You could cover your face with something, it is a good idea, but also I don't think this is that big of an amount that should worry you! (On dayly basis we don't wear a mask, but also use just a few spoon of silica at a time.) And this is does not look like the silica I'm talking about. That is Aerosil= looks cloud like. Hers is a much heavier powder- I think it rather is somekind of clay. She described it in another comment.
@mariahhazzard51774 жыл бұрын
MJBpeace Where can I find this type of silica or what is it called, I can’t seem to find it online. Can I get it on Amazon?
@sonastylol4 жыл бұрын
Hello, i'll try to answer this for you. English isn't my native language either, it's german - just like the Uploader of the Video (at least i think so, based on the label of the "silica" bottle). Anyways, Kieselerde or what they called Silica, is "Diatomaceous Earth" - so it's non toxic in small doses and used in various ways such as diy-hairproducts, facemasks, or even added into food. (It kills bed bugs as well, still its nontoxic!) It also helps with a hurt stomach and many more problems. You see, it isn't needed to use a mask (at least if you handle it nowhere near a leafblower) & absolutely worth to give it a shot before using chemicals :) So, I thiiiink it's a translation error! To make sure you can do your own research: It's called "Silicea terra" in latin. Make sure to ask in a drugstore for further information and more education, pretty sure that they know more. Have a pretty day :)
@riza.13104 жыл бұрын
actually do be careful cause diatomaceous (silica) earth can hurt your lungs, a lot of products will have warnings for it and i think you guys should be careful too "In addition to these problems, the diatomaceous earth can cause skin irritation and dryness. It can irritate the nose and nasal passages during the breathing. In case of large amounts inhalation, it can contribute to coughing and shortness of breath." please be careful if you do use diatomaceous especially if you have sensitive lungs!!

With pigments for green, though it's not as powdery I would like, I take the time to dehydrate my plants and process them from then. I use spruce or pine. I am hoping it will work with flowers (it works for Rose buds if you can tolerate the itchy powder when breaking them apart) You need more plant for that process, but if you're like me and live with other people, trying this method out might be cheaper and less invasive in the affairs of non-experimental family members. I live in an area with wild roses (east coast Canada) so I'm excited to see if this will work for me this spring

Gum Arabic is the best way to bind into paint. But I’m sure there is a oil that can substitute decently as well, maybe try some honey and play with texture. Yep. The gum arabic is the most common binder for watercolor paints, linseed is the most common for oils. Though usually paints are mulled (by machines or with a muller on a glass surface if by hand) as opposed to mixing in a dish. Its easier to make more paint since the process is rather long and most 'recipes' of pigment to binder are figured or calculated for that way of paint making.
