Happened to me and my husband with two different cards. I was surprised and we closed the cards, never looked back. Also had one closed for non use.

I’ve had AmEx in the past (not sure if still the case) they require any balance to be paid in Full at each end of statement period. Maybe also DiscoverCard but again I’ve only had these two cards years ago.. I’m currently using only debit with no overdraft*, and been debt-free for decades but thinking of diving back in with this Velocity Banking method just so I can do Bank Bonus funded by CC. *reason being I got burnt by an ex that took advantage of my LoC attached to my overdraft checking, which screwed my credit for years!

That actually just happened to me. I paid all but 10% off thinking I was doing good by doing so and and the next couple of days they cut my limit in half!!! I was pissed but that’s ok, God willing I’m paying my balances down, my credit score start going back up and they increase my limit again.

So, what happened? You were making large payments? I’m afraid of this. I’m going to start doing velocity banking with my credit cards next month. Did you make your payments after the statement date?

No I made a large payment and they cut my limit.

I’m wondering the same, have you tried their reconsideration hotline, and asked what happened,they can tell you (if they’re truthful) what exactly caused them to reduce.. Request a consideration to at least bump it some more? If not, asked what can you do for it to workout or avoid future reductions.
