Back in the day we lived in Santa Barbara and my aunt was a freewheeling, patchouli wearing, Earth Mama who was living with Pedro Santa Maria who happened to be a percussionist for Santana at the time! Pete as we called him turn me on to rhythms and especially congas I bought my first set with him at Driscoll's music store on State Street man could that guy play! I was 15 and smoked my first joint with him! I also got my first guitar when I was 15 and wanted to play like Carlos. I am a world-class drummer but a mediocre guitar player.. but I can sing like a banshee! The last time I saw Santana was at the Santa Barbara County Bowl.. one of the best venues in the world to see a show.
