Definitely enjoyed seeing the software based solutions to the slow internet issue on your laptop 😀. I would recommend changing out the wifi card, if possible, for more wifi bandwidth or pursuing a usb solution if that is not possible for you. Assuming that your wired connection on the laptop is 10/100, that is slowing you down as your isp is probably providing you with more bandwidth these days (a usb based wired connection at 10/100/1000, even at usb 3.0, ugh, NO!). I also suspect that your internal wifi is wifi 4/N, which is rather restrictive these days as wifi 5 or 6 definitely utilize the 5GHz bandwidth more effectively than N ever did (Prefer 6 if possible. Amazon even has an inexpensive usb 2.0 adapter for 6.). Again, I enjoyed the video and seeing that some of the software based solutions were quite effective, especially the ad free DNS one. Might try it on my Toshiba one day when I get around to it. And thanks for the mention in the video. Made my day 🌞!

The internet is a lot more than the World Wide Web, it’s a lot more than KZbin.

What I do: - Task Manager on its own takes a significant portion of % CPU. Set its refresh frequency to Low, or rather on daily use, close it completely. - Minimize all windows that you're not currently actively using. - Furthermore, if you're low on RAM, set pagefile to pre-allocate at larger size what it's currently using. This way the OS starts gradually swapping inactive data much earlier, and not when it needs more RAM the most when it's already full. - Disable services you don't need, e.g. bluetooth, printing, xbox gaming services, file search indexing. Take fresh backups of your files before doing this though, blindly turning off stuff is risky. - Declutter Temp folders, or rather full clean OS reinstall if it's been over two years since the last time. Reading a folder is mostly an I/O task, but it's still the CPU who needs to read the filelist to conclude whether each particular file is there or not.

UB Origin is now blocked on the chrome webstore so the newer UB Lite should be acquired instead.

Adding a software program will use up the already minimal resources. If adding more ram capacity is not an option, perhaps memory with a higher speed rating would help if the motherboard and cpu will support it.

Insane you need high end dual cores just to get online anymore because low end dual cores or single cores aren’t usable anymore. My Core2Duo from 2008 has no issues or slowdowns running windows 11 and getting online but these lower end systems that are many years newer than 2008 struggle. Things are too bloated now.

I had a laptop with an AMD A12 and it was quite fast once I put an SSD, I think it was an A12 9800p with Radeon R7 graphics, lowkey a budget beast of a laptop, just needed an SSD specially on Windows 10 since it's gotten more bloated with time, unfortunately it stopped working like a year or so ago, it finally gave up but might be fixable.
