"Elegies" I would have showed you the world as it was in my dreams. I would have dropped everything. And for those nights when we wept for the moon, I would have died for the spring. I found myself at the roots of the elms, singing songs to the birds and wishing this day would never end. But it did. These dreams came cascading down in a stream of fond memories and lost hope, and at the end of it all. At the end of it all is only a teardrop to remember you by. A keepsake from the birds, an elegy for what we could have shared. These words will last forever; I'll dream our memories away just to make you feel something for me again. These words will last forever; I'll dream our memories away just to make you hurt. Just to make you feel my pain. There is a warmth from the earth, and the touch of my fingertips are like droplets, making ripples on the surface. I cherish the moment my heart sank to the floor of the ocean. We could have been so much more, We could have laughed, and cried, and dreamed our nights away. So much more, So much more. I'll keep singing songs to the birds until you return, and for every time I lost myself there is a warmth from the earth, and the touch of my fingertips are like droplets, making ripples on the surface.

""The concept behind elegies was that the lyrics were meant to be a sort of love letter from the Lord Of Woe to Morrow. In the lyrics Lord Of Woe expresses how he believed that things could have been "so much more". I guess it's probably some kind of metaphor for how I felt toward a past girlfriend at the time.The fact that the song itself was an elegy "for what we could have shared" means exactly that. The song itself was an expression/outlet for me to get off any extra baggage I was carrying around for the relationship and dedicate a song to it.""

what is so amazing about this band is that they dont follow the normal or regualr deathcore description. They dont depend on the chuggs or the breakdowns, actually they do something completley different, they give a melodic deathcore experience. I mean, I love pretty much every deathcore band and I like the regular formula they follow, but make them suffer is just so different. They've mixed hardcore with instrumental and something completly diffferent and i love it

Listening to this now... My father is battling alzheimers or dementia. This song has never had a deeper meaning, even when I binge listened to it after my last breakup. We could have had so much more, but I was always distracted by life. Now he's dreams his memories away, and I feel his pain. My heart sinks to the floor of the ocean, and I cherish the moment, because I am reminded of everything he ever did for me. We laughed and cried for the happy times and the losses we shared. Now there are only teardrops, keepsakes from the birds to remember him by, as he is destitute. I am seriously considering playing this at his funeral, since he liked Make Them Suffer.
@AricStaric3 жыл бұрын
That's so cool he liked Make Them Suffer. This song though is ultimately about being abandoned and wishing ill on someone. I guess if your Dad really liked this song in particular I would say play it at the funeral forsure. Otherwise, I think there are better Make Them Suffer songs out there to play (Ether being one of them). Just my two cents. Stay strong man, reading your comment brought me to tears

@@AricStaric yeah... it was really cool, man. He came home one day and I was blasting Neverbloom... he walks in and listens for a minute, then asks "what is this?" I'm sure the music itself is what got him. I let him read the lyrics, then explained the album theme to him. He loves (loved) music with a theme, so it intrigued him. He even acknowledged how lyrics, no matter what form they take, are another instrument in songs. He was formally trained in music, so I valued his opinion, and when he said MtS was really good, I ran with it.
