Thank you for mentioning the alcohol in this product. I am still trying to repair the skin barrier on my cheeks after using the Chantecaille gel blush. I did not check the ingredients prior to use, wish I had because I would have seen that alcohol is the 3rd ingredient and man...it made my rosacea flare so badly! If you have sensitive skin, it's not worth it.

You're so welcome. I agree, if we can avoid it (and there are so many choices these days), it's best to.

Dang that looked pretty! Why oh why do they feel the need to add alcohol?! Maybe ok occasionally? (with lots of skin care) but definitely not an everyday foundation. Dang!

It looks beautiful. I'm so confused why they would use alcohol as the third ingredient. They don't even specify what type of alcohol. I've been reading about certain alcohols in skincare that are called fatty alcohols and they are derived from oils and are used in skincare to help moisturize. These fatty alcohols are: cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol, and cetearyl alcohol. The ingredient list for this foundation just says alcohol, which is most likely the dehydrating and irritating kind. Weird.

I think alcohol is often found in long wearing foundations - must have something to do with evaporation - but that's just my guess!

Always love your foundation reviews. Very pretty finish. Makeup will look dehydrated around my marionette area too and it really bugs the bleep out of me. Now I know why the NARS doesn’t do that bc it doesn’t have alcohol. The color swatches on your face and hands were super helpful. On your hand the Dior looked like the best color match on camera to me. Would you say it’s a favorite over the MUFE test?
@TheHoodedLid2 жыл бұрын
Yes Dior makes very nice shades for my skin tone - I use 2N which is often a hair too light...I need to look at their other shades to see if there is one slightly darker for spring summer

So surprised at Makeup Forever. Foundations are highly regarded, but as you mentioned a “professional” line. Does that justify Alcohol so high up on the list. 🤔 You looked stunning in the opening credit 😌

Great review. I got a sample of this from Sephora. The light neutral color was fine, but I could feel the foundation on my skin. The longer I wore it the more my skin itched. I put up with the irritation all night after taking it off too. While it looked nice at a distance and pretty in a photo, I have to pass on this one. My dry mature skin votes no.

I agree - such a shame. So pretty.

As stated by many, your intro look is lovely. It’s frustrating to have to hide 2/3 of one’s face with a mask. How did the foundation do under the mask? On day 2, I don’t think you applied concealer. I don’t think you even needed it on the first day either. I myself don’t find I need a foundation (or any makeup) on longer than a few hours, so I think I’ll give this a try.

Hope you love it! I think some came off my nose with the mask - I've been testing so much lately, I can't remember!

I have yet to figure out how to use a Beauty Blender. I dampen it, squeeze out the excess, and it leaves either a textured look or pulls the foundation/concealer up with it. I'm definitely a brush/finger gal. Oof. Alcohol as the 3rd ingredient is a dealbreaker for my dry, sensitive skin. I don't know why they feel the need to add alcohol and lately niacinamide into products. It's frustrating.
@M_ann_M2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the heads up about the alcohol in the foundation! In this day and age I never think to look for alcohol in a foundation- what are they thinking?? AND it’s the third ingredient 😳 I instantly removed this foundation from my Sephora cart. I feel the same way about a foundation containing alcohol- it’s a skin cell destroyer 👎🏻
@debcollins82312 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for putting this foundation through its paces. I am extremely curious to see if it indeed appears that the wearer is not wearing foundation at all. I swear, your skin looks so lovely, natural and foundation free. Your review convinced me to try it until that third ingredient was revealed. My six-month skincare is finally showing positive results and I do not want to inhibit or deteriorate progress.

Alcohol is added as a preservative. They use it instead of parabens or phenoxyethanol. Without these, the makeup would hardly last the week.
@TheHoodedLid2 жыл бұрын
I don't think that's the case. Most foundations I use don't have alcohol in them. I've noticed that many "long wear" foundations do. I think it has something to do with drying out the surface for better adherence.
@barbaraellison10952 жыл бұрын
Just circling back for comment number two-after trying this foundation I did like the coverage but wow, it was hard to apply with a brush. As I struggled I thought of your preferred method of finger application and knew that for some formulations that has to be the only real practical one. It just got stuck and the brush hairs made tracks! As an added “bonus”-the process to get it out of the brush was intense and lengthy.

I swatched that shade 1R12 in store. It was supposed to be the equivalent of R250 in the old formula which matched me really well but I thought the new formula swatch looked more yellow. Because of this and the alcohol and fragrance I'll pass on this one. I did find a color match in the Nars Yukon so may pick that up as it sounds pretty good and is alcohol and fragrance free.

@Mabellucyanna: Check out Shiseido Synchro Self Refreshing Tint. I bought it right after trying the Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin (which did not look so hot up close). The Shiseido is very nice. *I tend to have dry skin Application may seem different at first (use fingers, or a foundation brush) but it rubs in nicely and does not cling to any dry patches I may have. I wear the shade Light Buna and it's a perfect shade match for me. (I am pale, neutral toned) Just thought I would throw this out-there. I am 56 years old. This skin tint is very natural looking.
