Electric with Acoustic IR definitely sounds better than a dry piezo. I use acoustic IR's in my Mooer GE200. Sounds really cool using 3 Sigma Audio's mandolin IR's and capoing up an acoustic 12-string guitar.

I play live acoustic all the time. The IEM sound of a piezo always sounded horrible to me and I've been on a personal crusade to get a better sound running back into my ears. I started out loading IR's into a Mooer Radar. Later I got the Helix stomp. IR blocks and mixing in the original sound is a great option like you mentioned. I've found splitting the signal like some people do with bass guitar and processing the low end works great on the hx stomp. That way I can also mix the low and high in the stereo field to simulate the guitar (low on one end and high on the other). This can't be done on the pod go. But it's way cheaper, I think if I had come a bit later to the party I would have got this unit. So much more user friendly for stupid easy guitar players :) Another great tool for shaping acoustic sounds is a Mic pre block set to Line level.

You can also make your acoustic sound like a classical guitar without any amp. Simply thread an old earphone cable or even a shoelace through the strings at the bridge.

My Shecter C-1 E/A has the piezo, and I blend it with the neck humbucker and an IR, and it's pretty interesting. More acoustic than the piezo alone, but without the way over-brightness that particular piezo has. I use the ducking reverb so that I can have the mix up for the tails but it doesn't get annoying while I'm playing.

Thanks for the tips and a solution. I upgraded from a Boss GT1 to the go for more flexibility but miss the Acoustic Sim in the Boss. I also don’t want to take an acoustic with me and liked the GT1 ability to do Single or Humbucker to Acoustic simulation. Ticks me off I need to pay more for an IR now considering I paid more than double for the Go. Oh well, I guess the price of progress.

Hello there! Is it possible for the POD GO to add decent bass sound to a guitar (acoustic or electric), ONLY to the lowest note, while keeping the dry (not bass) signal available for further processing? In other words, does it have the functions of the new BOSS OCTAVE OC-5, embedded within?

Do you know what this may be? Do you have an updated version of the IR?

I was about to give this a try. I've read that setting up an acoustic guitar, many people set the amp to the Studio Tube Pre (based on Requisite Y7 mic preamp) rather than leaving it off. Have you tried this or have thoughts on it?
@ElcoWeitering4 жыл бұрын
I do this, works great. I also set my expression pedal to increase the gain and volume a bit for quieter playing and when I feel I need my playing needs more punch in the mix. Make sure you set it to line instead of mic.| Also IR patches work best for acoustic if you bring the level down a bunch. You see -18 in the video, that's a solid starting point. This is also recording level with the best headroom. I sometimes bring it up to taste to around -5 db.

Is there any concern with the pod go being intended for electric guitar, so that it might not be taking into account acoustic frequencies in an effective way? I'd love to get one and go to town with it, should I be concerned?
@treyxaviermusic2 жыл бұрын
It shouldn't make any difference to use it on acoustic vs electric, as long as you're not using an amp sim or cab sim in the chain, those will narrow the frequency range

The best rig I have ever heard and played through was a Sunrise Pickup, to a BBE Acoustimax, looping an Eventide H9 and TC Helicon VoiceLive GTX all outputting to an Alto Professional TS310. I have yet to hear a better rig. The HeadRush GIGBOARD is a very close second. The Line6 . . . bottom of the trash heap.
