You probably have some Electrical Insulation Tape laying around, and it's a great alternative to this. I just put a little bit of tape (WITH TWEEZERS, or else it's impossible) on the sticks of a ReDragon Harrow (G808) and works great. The best way to do this, is if you dismantle the joystick and pull away the stick's caps, it'd take more time for sure. I'll game with it for a while and if I notice any difference I'll comment it bellow.

I have been using an alternative solution for about two years - silicone rings. They work exactly the same way, are cheap, easy to install, have different colors, and also reduce bump noise (when the stick hits the edge of the bounding circle). Maybe they can add a little bit of tension when sliding along the edge of the circle, but I didn't notice it.

i usually use simple transparent adhesive tape, it works good. it's strange that your controllers have anti-friction rings and still do that damage on the analog caps. ps5's dualsense is the only controller i have with those rings and they work flawlessy, no need to apply any tape.

A very interesting idea. That dust that builds up around my joysticks has always bothered me. Thanks for doing that sound test. Few KZbinrs do stuff like that.

The dimensions are different depending on the controller Just cut a big slice and start trimming it down until it fits

you can measure first using paper. then use that as sample before cut the tape not all analogue sticks diameter are equal. some are thicker abit.

i checked every controller that i have, dualshock, gulikit kk3, 8bitdo then i got the diameter is 9.5mm, using Circumference you will get 29.8mm for long and a lot of analog have height around 4,5mm

Clean the sticks with isopropyl alcohol and apply again Make sure to move the sticks really hard to make sure the tape will glue all around them

I use joystick rubber ring 0.3mm protectors its alot cheaper, just stretch and play. while its rubber it can fit to any joystick diameter.

yep those all sold now everywhere since the start of this gen but PS5 doesn't need this causs it already has rings to make thumbsticks very smooth on roll but for other controllers is great and by those i mean thumbstick rings you don't need this stupid tape
