Mike, thank you for your helpful, informative videos. I had a quick question concerning matching clip loudness (segment beginning at 2:25). When I import host audio and match it to the music's loudness, I encounter a slight hissing sound in the voice track whenever the host is speaking - a little bit like the sound of someone ironing in the background. It fades when no speech is outgoing. I'm guessing this may point out an issue in my processing of that host track. Any ideas as to how to prevent that? With thanks.
@MikeRussell Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment! It seems like the hissing sound might be coming from the processing of your host track. To prevent this, try reducing the noise floor by using noise reduction techniques like spectral editing or applying a noise gate to the host track.
@joshuakellard1935 Жыл бұрын
@@MikeRussell Thanks so much, Mike - much appreciated. I think I found the issue in redoing the noise reduction I'd done on the host track. I seem to have 'under-done' the noise reduction, due to a fear of taking out too many frequencies. Going back and being a bit more aggressive with noise reduction has produced host tracks that I can boost without producing the hissing sound. Thanks for taking time to respond!

Mike! Thanks for sharing these videos - I'm new to audition and this is very helpful, however I have an issue which I can't seem to resolve. I'm editing a 15 min podcast, and the host of the podcast had a flu while we recorded - which made him breath maybe a little louder than normal - I want to remove this, but can't seem to figure out how to slow down the speed while editing - thus making it difficult for me to stop the track at the right moment and clip it out. Is there an easy way to slow down maybe 0.5 to 1 and have a little more time to react? :) Kind regards!

Hi there! You can try using the time-stretching feature in Audition to slow down the audio for easier editing - hope this helps! 😊🎧

How can I configurate 2 mics, one for the host and the other one for the guest?
@MikeRussell7 ай бұрын
To set up 2 mics in Adobe Audition for a podcast with separate tracks, go to Edit > Preferences > Audio Hardware, select your input devices for each mic, and create individual tracks for the host and guest to record on.

How your microphone records directly stereo (2 channels)? When im working with 2 microphones (dynamic xlr) i get only mono recording for each microphone.. What do i need to change?
@MikeRussellАй бұрын
You'll need to set your recording software or mixer to combine the two mono tracks into a single stereo track or use a stereo mic or microphone array that can capture a stereo signal in one XLR connection.

My audition does not record that way into dual tracks and cannot catch audio when i turn record on into the multitrack system with my mixer and mic all plugged in and presents correct. I have adobe audition never made a podcast before would this be the same if you were interviewing 2 people? Do they need headphones like the host?
@MikeRussell Жыл бұрын
If they're in the same room and can hear each other then the guest will not need headphones. If they're recording remote then the guest should wear headphones to stop the sound of the speakers being recorded at their end.

For your voice, why are you recording a mono signal to a stereo track? And for matching loudness, why didn't you set the LUFs level? Also, is matching loudness useful for music audio, say if you are making a song? I know why you didn't use a compressor - I watched your Rodecaster Pro 2 video ;)
@MikeRussell Жыл бұрын
As long as your audio channels are mapped correctly it doesn't matter if you record your voice in mono or stereo. Technically the stereo recorded file is dual mono anyway. The multitrack track armed to record was a stereo track, that's why it's recorded stereo. Normally I would normalise to -16LUFs but for this video I've just used the default in Audition. What you match loudness to is really only important in the final mixdown to ensure your hitting any applicable loudness standards.
@rwindmann Жыл бұрын
@@MikeRussell Yes, that's what I do. After the master is done, I pull the one file in Audition and then set the LUFs level. Thanks for the fast response!
