I've been doing concrete for 15 years and never saw this technique and I'm impressed! Guessing you could charge a good price for this. And not many people know this is even possible making customers more excited about it. One thing I never liked about concrete is how bland it is. As an artist I love the decorative side of concrete. I'd rather do this full time than doing traditional concrete work, no joke!

Have you considered putting knots in the boards? Break a concrete sanding block in half. After etching the board edges in, use the half block and twist it several times on one spot within the lines of a board, creating a different pattern. This can either be stained with the rest of the concrete the same color, or stained with a slightly different shade to make the knot stand out more! The project looks great as is though! Kudos!

Folks that think that this is too much work haven’t apparently worked with other options (assuming that we’re talking interiors). Unless this would be the new tongue/groove hardwoods there is no way installing a new floor on a slab is easier with all the leveling, cuts, adhesive, nailing, etc. I would love for you to come to Plano and do my master BR (half your patio) and then I’ll do the other bedrooms. Two days for that project, low stress, and in my case it’s indoors and we wouldn’t have to worry about the weather. A long weekend up I35 and I’d never have to deal with carpet again 🎉.

When we moved into our house back in 1991 the staircase had a wrought iron railing. We didn’t like it so my husband changed the stairs, railing and balusters to oak and put in a shoe rail, which you are not supposed to do. The railing was an over the post railing. He even made the dead man stands for setting it all up.

Absolutely LOVE this. Always loved the idea of decking but living in Australia I worry about the upkeep and lifespan of a timber deck. Very hot summers, typically 104F+ and pissing down with rain in winter. Obviously people build decks here but, to me, they mostly look pretty shabby after a few years. This is an excellent solution. Bravo! 👏 👏 👏

Thank you so much! This is great in the heat too because of the texture there’s less surface area touching your feet making it feel cooler

That looked amazing! I was suspicious in the beginning, but it ended up looking so good. It gave me great inspiration for my deck. The only difference, I think I would want a lighter wood stain like maybe a tan gray color.

Hi. Very good. One small piece of advice. Avoid doing this work when the sun is so bright, especially the two stain coats. Early mornings and evenings are best in a sunny place, or wait until the area is shielded from the sun. The stain will not dry so fast making it easier to avoid 'brush marks/lines'. It came out nice though. Thanks, good video and narration. 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Suggestion. Your A/C unit was directly in the sun the entire days you were doing this. That heat makes your A/C less efficient and more expensive to run during the day. This could be fixed by designing and building a DIY covered, but vented box around and on top of the unit. This should not or permanent but removable for maintenance. You could also incorporate that build with a counter along that side of the patio. It could have a work area, a sink, an area for your BBQ, a small refrigerator what ever your imagination comes up with. Save money in your electric bill and expand the patios usable space and improve your lifestyle…

Love it, great idea. Came out beautiful. But wear a mask when pouring the powder, then dust yourself off. You’re young now, but in a few years, you could get serious lung disease from that. Protect your health always.

7:08 this is exactly why you don’t wait 5 minutes, just go and put it on. Now you have to add more water and possibly mess up the consistency. Folks, DO NOT wait 5 minutes when mixing a mixture because it will harden. As long as it’s mixed really good, the 5 minutes is completely useless and even harmful for the mixture.

I don't know about this product but in other products such as grout and drywall setting type compound it's good to let it set. I believe they call it letting it slake.
