Skiing is such a fun way to lean into winter, but it can be a hard skill to learn if you've never been on the hill before! For those who are just starting with skiing, I have three exercises that you can do at home or in the gym to help you pick up the technique of skiing quicker.
As always, you want to make sure you're doing these exercises within the range of motion and depths that are comfortable to you. As these movements get easier, you can start to play with your range of motion and depths, always moving within a range that's comfortable to you to avoid injury.
These exercises all focus on the movements that you'll be making on the ski hill including snowplowing and pivoting. Ideally, you want to start these a couple of weeks before your first day but, it's never too late to incorporate these into your routine. And like skiing, you can have a lot of fun with these beginner ski exercises.
These stability exercises can also be used throughout the season in addition to pre-season and, they work as a phenomenal warm-up before you go out on the slopes.
