Wow! I went to town today and bought more flour. I appreciate your wonderful videos very much, Jinne! Thank you for everything that you do. P. S. I'm done canning applesauce for the year because I canned 42 pints, plus 9 jars of apple butter, and 7 quarts of apple pie filling. I'm concentrating on baking with apples. I've got so many apples to use up. I'm thinking of canning apple slices.

Thanks for the recipe! I have one that includes lard or butter in the mix (using butter...has to be refrigerated) and I love that mix. This is another great mix to have on hand! I've been writing down all sorts of mixes along with how to convert AP flour to self rising, how to make 'buttermilk' from reg. milk and just all sorts of things I may need if the grid goes down and I can't just go online to look it up. Plus I want my kids to have it as a go to for when SHTF happens. I'll be adding this one too! :)

Can u use water instead since powdered milk was already added?
@rebeccawoosley8241 Жыл бұрын
Yes you can. If you have room in your fridge for storing, you can add your butter (or it works with vegetable oil--i don't need any lectures about veggie oil it's what I grew up on thanks tho]. Mix into a cornmeal consistency. Store in a Glass Jar or airtight container. Measure out your desired mix for what you're making. Add the water. Mix. Your batter is done. You can add some instant dried yeast & water mix for a different taste. (Exact measurements you can look at the Amish recipe for Bride's Biscuits.) Keeps up to 3 months in the fridge.

I gave my sister this recipe because she makes pancakes quite often. She said that she adds 2 eggs when she uses Bisquik for pancakes. This recipe doesn’t say to use them. Are we suppose to or is that optional with Bisquik? I don’t normally buy it because I’m not a big pancake eater and it’s just me but I would still like to know. My sister said she would rather just buy the box of Bisquik. 😵💫
@belvadalidowich531410 ай бұрын
I always add an egg or two. It is nice for if you don't have any eggs to not have to add any, but if you have eggs I would add them. They taste better, are fluffier and have extra protein.

@WendyHett Жыл бұрын
Do you still have it, and would perhaps share?
@dawnbaker9274 Жыл бұрын
@WendyHett Sorry it took me a while to find the recipe but here it is. Grandma Priest's biscuit/pancake Mix 10 c flour 1/3 cup baking powder 2 1/2 teas salt 1/4 cup sugar 1 cup Buttermilk powder 2 1/2 cups solid shortening (I saw her use crisco, butter, or a combo of the two) Mix well until resembling fine crumbs. Store in an airtight container in the fridge. (Don't know how long it lasts. Always used it up before it went bad) Add enough milk to make biscuit dough or more for pancakes. For biscuits, bake 425*-450* for 10-12 minutes. Pancakes, make them like you normally would. Hope you enjoy.
