This is pretty cool... When my three grandsons (ages 5, 9, 11) visit I usually quiz them during dinner on what they have learned at school in the past week or two... So, next time they visit me I will have fortune cookies for each of them with the quiz questions...

Just a couple of chinese proverbs I copy-pasted from a website and google translated them. Hipefully you guys will find them amusing: Chinese: “學而不思則罔,思而不學則殆。” Proper translation: “Learning without thought is labor lost; thought without learning is perilous.” Google translate: "If you don't think, you don't think about it. If you don't learn, then you can learn." Chinese: “吾日三省吾身:爲人謀而不忠乎?與朋友交而不信乎?傳不習乎?” Proper: “I daily examine myself on three points:- whether, in transacting business for others, I may have been not faithful;- whether, in intercourse with friends, I may have been not sincere;- whether I may have not mastered and practiced the instructions of my teacher.” Google: "My three provinces are my own: I am not loyal to people? I don't believe in my friends? I don't care?" Chinese: “不患人之不己知,患不知人也。” Proper: “I will not be afflicted at men’s not knowing me; I will be afflicted that I do not know men. Google: "I don't know if I don't know people, I don't know people." Chinese: “朝聞道,夕死可矣!” Proper: “If a man in the morning hears the right way, he may die in the evening without regret.” Google: "When you hear the news, you can die in the evening!" Chinese: “德不孤,必有鄰。” Proper: “Virtue is not left to stand alone. He who practices it will have neighbours.” Google: "Don't be alone, there must be neighbors."

A friend of mine pulled the fortunes from some premade cookies and replaced them with kind of cryptic announcements of her pregnancy. It went over so well with the whole family as they (she and her husband) had called her parents and said they would pick up takeout for the family so her mother didn't have to cook. It made a great memory for everyone.

I laughed so hard. “Well played, Universe, well played.”

I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when I watched this episode. Quite a few years ago I owned a cookware shop & cooking school. When we were moving to a larger location, we planned to host an opening party. My assistant manager & I decided we could cater the party ourselves, (because we were much younger & so much more foolish). Among the things we decided to prepare were from-scratch fortune cookies. 35 dozen hand made fortune cookies! All of which needed to be baked the two nights before the store's opening, in order to ensure the cookies were crisp. You know that episode of "I Love Lucy" when she was working in the candy factory?... Yep, that was us. All of our fortunes we're food related: 'Quiche a Happy Cook & Lose Your Fear of Frying', 'Elvis Parsley Gave Us Thyme of Our Lives', one was about the cost of pot, etc. In addition, some fortunes were sale coupons. The fortune cookies were a big hit, but I still get a small case of hives every time I think back to making them. * If I remember correctly, our recipe was very similar to yours; I know we used only the whites of eggs. (But no sesame oil!) We made the cookies a bit smaller than yours - & so would you if you were making 420 of them! Ah, food memories

"A broken cookie will tell you nothing, but a broken heart will." That is a perfect example of what we call an "Escher sentence" - one which appears to make perfect sense at first read but falls apart once you start trying to parse it. Fortunately, this one could be repaired as "A broken cookie won't tell you anything, but a broken heart will." You are, after all, the cunning linguist of your twisted English.

Couldnt you also cook them on a very nonstick pan stove top? Then use a cutter to get a perfect circle. I think that might make getting the fold to be more cooperative. Or just squish the with a stamped cookie before they cool to make crispy cookies, or something fun to ice. Make it big enough and you could do ice cream bowls by draping the hot cookie over a form, or make your own cone.
