Technically this is closer to a Pastis than Absinthe since it doesn't contain wormwood (Artemisia absinthium). But very cool either way. Always like seeing anise getting some cocktail love!

When it comes to nonalcoholic drinking, I just do water. For me, if I'm going to ingest calories through drinking a liquid, it might as well be booze. Great video, as always, guys.

Need Grande Wormwood to make an absinthe syrup. Not a lot, because it will be very bitter without distillation, but a little would help give depth.
@KevinKos2 күн бұрын
True. I guess it's time for another recipe 😄 This one is still delicious though. Cheers!

You should have gone into chemistry. I'm always amazed at the amount of effort you put into your experiments. Too bad we can't taste them through the screen.

I'm a bit surprised no wormwood was used in this, as a bittering agent.

My favorite NA drink is simple soda water with a few (a lot?) dashes of a Fee Brothers Cherry or Orange bitters in it.

Are bitters alcohol free? I always thought they were really high on alcohol. Are there certain ones that are alcohol freel?
@11macedonian2 күн бұрын
They do have a lot of alcohol, but you are only putting drops in, so the end result is still well less than 0.5% alcohol.
@KevinKos2 күн бұрын
Fee Brother has only small amount of alcohol so end cocktail here has less than 0.1% alcohol.

This is not absinthe, maby pastis, where is wormwood, where is fenel? With anise this is minimum for absinthe
@notahotshot3 күн бұрын
1:50 12 grams fennel seed. The only thing missing is wormwood.
@navlantuktuk39302 күн бұрын
@@notahotshot Not star anise, just anise, that are two diferent spices.
@notahotshot2 күн бұрын
@@navlantuktuk3930 Oh, since you were wrong about the fennel you're going to shift to a trivial difference, being that anise and star anise have very similar flavor. It was obvious from the start that this is not absinthe since it had no alcohol, but you go ahead and think you've done something special.
@KevinKos2 күн бұрын
Without alcohol it's minimum to Absinthe. Idea here is to make an ingredient that can replicate flavor of absinthe. Believe me I made a lot of versions but this one what the best option by far. If you have a better recipe I am happy to listen and try it. There is always room for improvements. Cheers!
@navlantuktuk39302 күн бұрын
@@notahotshot No they don't similar flavor, probably becouse i have realy sensitive taste buds but one is for me one of the best and second one of the worst. And when you make absinthe with star anise inted of anise, belive ne everyone notice it thaks to the aging that is crusual for absinthe making, diferent flavors pop up. For me wormwood makes it better becouse i try domething similar in past

Absinthe comes from Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium). You forgot the main ingredient, Sir.
