Thank you for sharing this video on these beautiful pillow shams. I have never tried making shams before but your encouragement is helping me find the confidence to try. I will be using T-shirts for my centers ,given by my stepdaughter who has lost her best friend, building the borders with your example in mind thank you again I think this is an amazing well thought and taught tutorial

I have an old quilt I made as a kid that I've recently taken out of storage and am now using on my bed. Been thinking about making shams to go with it. Thank you for easy to follow along directions. 😊

This is a nice one! I have made countless of quilted cushion covers with actual bindings. This is easier. And I love the fact that it has a overlapping back. Somehow American version never has a flap on the back and bare pillows are exposed lol 😅. I like this better. Thanks!

Love these. The one thing which would have been so helpful is you mentioned the size of the larger backing piece would be the same size as the quilted front and then fold back and stitch. But did not give about how much fabric you would need for the shorter size. Let’s say you wanted it to be 5-6 inches. For example.

Do you not end up with raw edge on the inside?

Katrina, why change the stitch length from 2.5 to 3? The shams are so cheerful! Thanks for sharing.
@leslieschmidt97652 жыл бұрын
When going through a thicker amount of fabrics and batting, the slightly longer stitch length helps prevent skipped stitches.

@@leslieschmidt9765 Thank you for the explanation. Much appreciated.

In the video it states you had the walking foot on. In the picture it looks like a 97D foot. Am I seeing things?
@theopinionatedquilter2 жыл бұрын
I forgot to say I love the shams, they are gorgeous no matter the foot.
@SewingStudio2 жыл бұрын
Hello, Yes you're right. I had the 97d foot on but the Bernina 570 QE that Katrina is using has a Dual Feed which works in the same way as a walking foot.
@leslieschmidt97652 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this tutorial, Katrina. Do you think it would be good to finish the seams on the inside? How would you do that? I know some pillow case tutorials use French seams.
@SewingStudio2 жыл бұрын
Hi Leslie, Yes French Seams would be the way to do that.

So is one pillow opening to the left and the other to the right so that where the pillowcase is closed touches one another so to speak and openings are opposed to one another?
