Great minds think alike! Just got back from the store with groceries to make snack boxes! And my daughter works at the local super market and was my grocery bagger..her very 1st job!☺️

I really enjoyed this comparison! Also, I would have to say there are probably better quality ingredients in YOUR versions of snack trays. Thanks for sharing.

I thoroughly enjoyed this video!! Love seeing the price comparisons and it was kind of like a what’s for lunch video! Great ideas and great execution! One thing to note: the quality of food in the homemade version looks so much more appetizing! … also pizza lunchables DO taste like cardboard… but why are they so good. Lol 🍕
@hardenmama18002 жыл бұрын
Honestly Jen, your versions looked so much fresher. The carrots and broccoli in the purchased snacks looked dried out and sad. Plus, the amount of packaging that goes into the trash with convenience foods is really shocking. Thanks for sharing!

Great ideas! I’m wondering if the portions were the same in the homemade snacks. I think they might be more generous.

Those are huge savings. I use the four square containers all the time for breakfast. I don't eat fruit or crackers (diabetes), but I can put together things to grab at breakfast. I typically put some nuts, pepperoni sticks, a couple mini sweet pickles and hard boiled egg in them.

Jen, this is one of my absolute favorite videos you’ve ever done!

I really think the ingredients you used look more appealing, fresh, and healthier than the store bought versions. I wouldn’t eat the carrots and broccoli that looked brown and dried up. That being said, sometimes when I’m on the run I like the turkey lunchable that is Keira’s favorite too. Great video. I like to soak my cut apples in pineapple juice to prevent browning.

I loved this comparison. Thanks for doing this. As for the apple corer/wedger I would say Yes. Get one. Use mine all the time. I have two. A Pampered Chef that cuts 10 wedges and one by Progressive that cuts 16 thinner wedges. tfs

I purchased the sestema containers AGES ago when I first started watching you when you did a lot of Keto prep. Super great quality on those. At Christmas this year we did a trip since my son that still lives here is an adult and my fiancé and I decided we wanted to focus more on experiences and not stuff. So we went to Tennessee and had a great time for a week and we took some food and all week long I would make up snack boxes for the three of us so we weren’t always eating junk. It was great and I even did some dried fruits sometimes. My fiancé thought I was some kind of genius. Roflol! As if!

I recently purchased those "lunchable" containers. (Honestly, I have been calling them that as well!) Highly recommend! I put a deli meat in one compartment, cheese in one, grapes in one, then black olives with snack ems' pickles in one. I've also thought how great these containers would be when I want to take leftover tacos to work. Thanks for this video!
@lizwilliams5862 жыл бұрын
Thanks - this was a fun comparison. Would also be interested to see the comparison the other way around! I.e. if the original was $2, how much more of those same foods could you have for the same price, e.g. a whole apple, 2 cheese sticks, double the crackers.

if you go by the weight of the items, yours are way way more worth it! im not sure if you did include that, but for example if you look at the foodles(?) your cheese and apple compartment contain much more than the store bought. you also get the option of choosing the type of fruit/cheese or whatever you include, to both save on picky eaters and going for budget items. plus, id die on the hill that the homemade ones will 9/10 be more satiating (looking at you, lunchable)

Interesting... I'm outside of the USA so we don't really eat that type of foods for lunch/snack but I found still interesting to see the difference... And you still use a lot of pre prepared food to make those meals, so if necessary you could still cut more the costs.

Thanks for sharing! 2 of my kids love those trio packs that have a meat, a cheese, and a chocolate item (chocolate covered nuts or pretzels). I stopped buying them when they hiked up the price but I could definitely make them at home! My other kiddo has allergies so I could even make some allergy friendly and all the kids would have the same snack.

Your portions seem slightly larger than the prepackaged ones. To me that means you are actually getting more for your money and a little bit bigger of a savings. I’m with you on the last one though, if it saves me time and the savings weren’t that significant, I would buy the prepared item. Thanks for showing us ways to save when these kids are eating us out of house and home! 🤣

I make homemade lunchables for myself. I use "fancy" cheese. It was on clearance for $1 but normally expensive. Lol. I eat way more vegetables when it's prepped. Fruit I still have a hard time with, luckily my daughter eats it. I'm more a savory person I guess.
