Many years ago i was in a "Glashütte". Baically a German Glass producer. they explained us there that to get rid of of the greenish tone from the Iron impurities they add "braunstein" which is, if my School chemistry doesnt fail me, Mangandioxid. While Iron is the yellowish green tone Mangandioxid will make it violett. Both are complementary colours so you end up with gray clear glass. Thats what they at least explained to us. But seeing as you mentioned making soap you propably knew that the Mangandioxid is know as "Glasmacherseife", Glas maker soap.

Hi Andy, I really enjoyed the video. It's amazing to see how far you've come. Have you considered washing your sand with hot HCl to remove any trace iron impurities? When you dissolved your roasted sand/NaOH mixture and filtered out the insolubles, the color was reddish brown. To me, that suggests there were Fe(III) ions in solution. If you were to wash your sand in HCL with your sep funnel (followed by washing steps with distilled water) a few times before the roasting step, I bet you could greatly reduce the iron impurities. Anyways good luck.

For a moment I thought maybe it makes more sense in kilometres/hour...then I remembered it was America and that it's about 37kmh. Sooo...I really hope it's because the man in the sign shop had run out of zeros but had an over abundance of threes. )

Some places put up oddball speed limits to generate speeding ticket revenue. Someone going 30 will be doing 7 over the limit rather than 5.
@MichaelOnines6 жыл бұрын
Another reason for oddball speed limit signs is it kicks the driver out of autopilot and makes them think an extra bit about the sign. Tends to be observed a little bit better.

You gotta think, that rock guy wakes up everyday and *chooses* to style his hair that way... Wtf
@_Piers_6 жыл бұрын
He'll have styled it the same way since he was young. Age has met him down, but he's stuck to the same style. Not a good choice, but a common one - like all the aging rockers with long hair...but almost nothing on top. It's past time, for a new style, you'll look younger and better.

Yeah, but it'll probably shatter if you don't anneal it, and no one seems to know how to anneal it properly.
