What a killer patch! You're awesome, Walker. These videos keep getting better and better. One of my favorites so far. Love the call to action at the end :) I always feel like running to my system after watching one of these.

Man that’s a great patch and you make it look so easy. Keeping it to a single oscillator like this is really impressive - it’s all about the modulation and the effects that really give it life.

Indeed, a super patch. I never thought of patching the sub with the shaped sound before. It sounds huge. I remember someone saying 'one does not compose with just octaves' but you defintely proved it's cool to break that rule.

This is an adroitly executed demo. I really enjoyed how you kept the sequence basic and monotone, "hypnotic" to echo another's interpretation. I spontaneously underscored your sci-fi soundscape with improvised noisy bass stabs from my MS-10. Thanks for the jam session - sounded excellent! Kudos on maintaining a degree of inviting sparsity in STO's panel design and focus in its feature set. As a minimalist with a penchant for spaciousness, I could not consider it for my system otherwise. Shape control and semi-independent sub oscillator are neat tech. Rad.

This is a great example of getting a lot from so little! It’s funny how complex a patch can get with just one sound source and various modulation. I actually feel like I often get much more satisfaction making more with less like this as well.

Nice 4 module patch! (well, plus 0-coast and XOH ;-) This really highlights something I've thought about lately with regards to modular, in that you can do so much with a limited set -- it really helps to have the means to break out a few modules to focus on and really get to know better... I think working with the STO in a larger system you often forget that you can get as much out of it as you can... On another note... this video makes me want to sell my René and get an 0coast 🙀

I was on the fence to sell the mimeophone but I feel i´m not done yet and still keep it. There is still some hidden places to go and explore in the world of sonics! I find the STO pairs also very well with the QPAS! Playing melodies with the STO (over a couple of octaves) and picking out harmonics with the QPAS (sending it to the Mimeo...) makes it a perfect pairing with some magic.

Can the STO glide from one note to another? Or is it like, strictly no glide effect?
@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC3 ай бұрын
It's 100% analog. The pitch control is continuous, following the exact contours of whatever control signal you send it. Typically if controlling via a keyboard or sequencer you would create glide between notes by sending the CV through a slew limiter such as a channel of MATHS, then from there into the STO 1v/oct input.
@xnaut_g3 ай бұрын
@@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC thank you. I might buy maths now because I want my module to sometimes glide from note to note. I use an STO and the sound is rich. Exactly what modular synth die hards are looking for.

I challenge Make Noise to create Maths 2.0. It's going to be like trying to make a Blade Runner sequel. It's possible, but it was REALLY hard ;-)
@chetplease2 жыл бұрын
isn't the modern maths a maths 2.0 ? the old one didn't have the invert output i think and possibly other things, hard to tell looking at it, which was another improvement with the modern one. i like the lightning bolts, but the modern version is easier to get your head around
