You make finishing your songs look easy peasy lemon squeezy, but over here it's more like stressy, depressy, lemon zesty 😭😂

I never set deadlines since I just make stuff as a hobby and I currently have more than 10 tracks just sitting there for months thinking I will do something more. Setting deadlines will probably help with this if I can stick with it. Good info as always!

Tip 5 is life changing man. I have been chained to my backlog of songs thinking that finishing meant “don’t start anything new until you finish everything else first.” I got better at managing my time but trying to go back and clean up my messes and figure out how to finish old poorly managed ideas has had me stuck for a bit. Thank you!

Great video with a relevant topic! I sometimes make a manifest where I decide on a certain list of instruments for the recording or specific plugins for the mixing part just to maintain the vibe or sound I want. It also helps me get things done when I won’t have to bother or get distracted looking for plugins with the loooong list of plugs in my daw. Make a template with the preferred instruments and effects for an EP or album to maintain the artistic goal for that project! It helps me finish songs!

Great video! Your focus on getting the skeleton of the song down asap reminds me of the Six Rules for the Aspiring Writer by the great American author, John Steinbeck. Rule #2 in particular: "Write freely and as rapidly as possible and throw the whole thing on paper. Never correct or rewrite until the whole thing is down. Rewrite in process is usually found to be an excuse for not going on. It also interferes with flow and rhythm which can only come from a kind of unconscious association with the material."
