She's right. I grew up there in the 80s. The town had nothing, so we went there to drink make out, and there really was satan worship going on there in the 80s. There are ruins there that are really creepy and odd-looking. One of the main ones we called Stonehenge, because it looked alot like it.

Fun fact: Point Pleasant also has a Mothman Museum! I have family that live around there and we took a trip to the museum a few years back. They've got a big statue that you can take pictures with, tons of merch, and a lot of interesting stuff inside. They even have some pictures of the "Men in Black" that were spotted around town during that time. My 8 year old loved it and was on the lookout for Mothman the entire drive home 😅

Crazy story: My mom is from West Virginia and was supposed to be on the bridge with her family when it collapsed. She and her family were supposed to be traveling to a family members house but decided not to go last min. Around the time the bridge fell they would have been either crossing or about to. She also remembers as a child seeing a figure flying in the sky and shadows around town. She totally believes in moth man.

I was thinking this the whole time!! He approaches so slow and cautious and people just keep running away! Roger and his crew stood there for how long, waiting for Mothman to get close.. because Mothman was trying not to scare them off. Obviously if he could fly up to 100 mph he could have caught them before they took off in the car. And he just stood and stared at the lady with the baby. Didn't even touch her 😂😂 Poor misunderstood critter!

I live in Charleston, wv. and back in the 70s, My mother, uncles and a few of their friends were walking home about a mile one late night after a church social. As they turned the corner down the little Holler where they lived, they saw something standing a few yards away, off the road. A very large creature with huge red eyes almost in its neck.. large wings and a very terrifying glare. They saw this thing before it ever blew up and got famous.. they didn't know what it was then.. well, Apparently it chased them all the way home, it was flying and bouncing off trees, making awful screeching noises..it was trying to keep up with them and did. My grandmother said my mom was 15 years old at that time, and was so terrified when she made it into the house that she fell through the door and was screaming, pointing at the sky, sobbing uncontrollably, begging her brothers to lock the doors.. her 20 year old brother refused to walk his gf home that night, and apparently he refuse to leave the house very much for a few years after that.. My mother and all the people in that group to this day refuses to talk about it.. (my grandparents told us the story secretly, mom told it a few years ago when we were all out of state together) BUT, I was with my mother in a department store 20 years ago, and she ran into a lady named Penny, who had been with them the night of their encounter.. (im guessing the brothers gf) my mom leaned in, and said, can we all maybe set down and talk about that night? OG she stopped my mother dead sentence and said I do not want to talk about it, and walked away.. FR. I was shook. 😶

I went to Point Pleasant WV on vacation a couple years back. My mom, sister, and I stayed at the Lowe hotel (haunted hotel) across the street from the moth man museum. While on vacation we went to the local restaurant and our waitress (an older woman) told us that she lost her husband and son in the bridge accident the moth man sightings took place years ago. I fully believe in crypteds existing. We also went to the TNT site, or at least as close as we could get. Definitely worth the trip if anyone wants to go and learn more.

I moved back to my small town after not living there for some time. I happened to be working crazy hours for a few months and not seeing many people. One day, I had someone knock on my door. “I didn’t see you at the grocery store and was wondering if you were sick or needed anything.” One thing that is difficult is dating. You go on a dating site and there might be like 10 people total to choose from that don’t live an hour or more away. And, you’re related to the first three or four and the rest you can’t stand. On the other hand, when my parents died, I’d have people just do things just because they knew I couldn’t keep up with everything. I had someone mow our 10 acre property all summer. I didn’t know who it was for a couple of months. They never expected anything for it. They just knew I needed help. So, there are some really beautiful things about living in a small town.

As I said, my mom loved this video. I wasn’t born when these events went down. I grew up hearing about them around in my small town that’s only 15 minutes away. My mom had so many more stories that line up with this after watching. In high school they would go to hang out at the t&t area. She had friends who actually saw him. A lot of people truly believe the moth man wasn’t evil, That he was trying to communicate with them about the collapse of the bridge that happened right after. If anyone has lived in or near this area, they would understand that this community is the Bible Belt. They did not want to accept any evil in this small town. I’m from Huntington! Not far from the moth man stories. There is a movie roughly based on him. It has Richard here in it. But I can’t remember the name. The story is definitely told world wide!

I like to Google the areas that Bailey is talking about to get a little more context of the story - so I Googled Point Pleasant and the statue is one of the first images that came up!

Bailey: "I've always wondered what it would be like to grow up in a small town..." also Bailey: "He kept calling them kids, but wasn't one of them married? So were they really kids??" me, having grown up in a small town: *thinks about all the times I've seen people who are like eighty call people in their sixties kids...* Yeah, just part of that small town charm, everyone knows everyone lifestyle I guess.

My dad literally calls people who were born in the same year as him "kids"....if you're younger than him at all, you're a kid lol...and occasionally, people who are older than him are also "kids" but that's based off their maturity levels I guess? Or how old they look? Idk...small towns are wack...but I kinda miss it...not having people all up in my business, but more like not having to worry about locking my car or house...and just being able to do things that you cant do (especially as a woman) in cities...like safely leave your house alone after dark

That's not a small town thing it's an older person thing the way it works is if someone was a kid at any point after you are an adult you refer to them as kids forever. My grandparents called my aunts and uncles and parents kids my parents now call me a kid and when my kids grown up they will always be my kids

My friend carmen died last year. He was 76 and he called everyone kiddo. Our friend Erick is 65... Carmen always called him kiddo. At first I thought it was cuz he forgets everyone's name, but nah, in his mind, he was still just barely a grown up and therefore everyone was just a teenager in his mind lol Obviously he consciously knew we were adults, but we all just seemed like kiddos to him 🤷

I’ve always used kid as a term of endearment. Usually reserved for nieces or nephews, etc. People I love and am protective of. I’ve had people call me kid, kiddo, and I’m in my thirties. 90% of the time it’s just a term of endearment that really has little bearing on actual age.

Girl they legit leave mtn. dew and doughnuts for the moth man, a whole Holliday and statue dedicated to the moth man and merch. No joke. I lived there for a year, and they take it super seriously, wendigos too. Also the bridge was silver, and brought a warning that silver was a bad idea, and they blamed him for the destruction and deaths, deeming him an omen of traders and death.
