Fun fact: Point Pleasant also has a Mothman Museum! I have family that live around there and we took a trip to the museum a few years back. They've got a big statue that you can take pictures with, tons of merch, and a lot of interesting stuff inside. They even have some pictures of the "Men in Black" that were spotted around town during that time. My 8 year old loved it and was on the lookout for Mothman the entire drive home 😅

Crazy story: My mom is from West Virginia and was supposed to be on the bridge with her family when it collapsed. She and her family were supposed to be traveling to a family members house but decided not to go last min. Around the time the bridge fell they would have been either crossing or about to. I live in Charleston, wv. and back in the 70s, My mother, uncles and a few of their friends were walking home about a mile one late night after a church social. As they turned the corner down the little Holler where they lived, they saw something standing a few yards away, off the road. A very large creature with huge red eyes almost in its neck.. large wings and a very terrifying glare. They saw this thing before it ever blew up and got famous.. they didn't know what it was then.. well, Apparently it chased them all the way home, it was flying and bouncing off trees, making awful screeching noises..it was trying to keep up with them and did. My grandmother said my mom was 15 years old at that time, and was so terrified when she made it into the house that she fell through the door and was screaming, pointing at the sky, sobbing uncontrollably, begging her brothers to lock the doors.. her 20 year old brother refused to walk his gf home that night, and apparently he refuse to leave the house very much for a few years after that.. My mother and all the people in that group to this day refuses to talk about it.. (my grandparents told us the story secretly, mom told it a few years ago when we were all out of state together) BUT, I was with my mother in a department store 20 years ago, and she ran into a lady named Penny, who had been with them the night of their encounter.. (im guessing the brothers gf) my mom leaned in, and said, can we all maybe set down and talk about that night? OG she stopped my mother dead sentence and said I do not want to talk about it, and walked away.. FR. I was shook. 😶

I moved back to my small town after not living there for some time. I happened to be working crazy hours for a few months and not seeing many people. One day, I had someone knock on my door. “I didn’t see you at the grocery store and was wondering if you were sick or needed anything.” One thing that is difficult is dating. You go on a dating site and there might be like 10 people total to choose from that don’t live an hour or more away. And, you’re related to the first three or four and the rest you can’t stand. On the other hand, when my parents died, I’d have people just do things just because they knew I couldn’t keep up with everything. I had someone mow our 10 acre property all summer. I didn’t know who it was for a couple of months. They never expected anything for it. They just knew I needed help. So, there are some really beautiful things about living in a small town.

I agree. I used to hate small towns but I love them now. It is definately a better place to raise a child in my opinion. People watch out for each other's kids and believe it takes a village to raise a child. In the city we don't even know our next door neighbors and I have been in this house for 3 years

I live in a small village and my house burnt down 27th April and some people who we didn't even no were amazing. I think it's amazing that your neighbour did that. As I said, my mom loved this video. I wasn’t born when these events went down. I grew up hearing about them around in my small town that’s only 15 minutes away. My mom had so many more stories that line up with this after watching. In high school they would go to hang out at the t&t area. She had friends who actually saw him. A lot of people truly believe the moth man wasn’t evil, That he was trying to communicate with them about the collapse of the bridge that happened right after. If anyone has lived in or near this area, they would understand that this community is the Bible Belt. They did not want to accept any evil in this small town. I’ve always used kid as a term of endearment. Usually reserved for nieces or nephews, etc. People I love and am protective of. I’ve had people call me kid, kiddo, and I’m in my thirties. 90% of the time it’s just a term of endearment that really has little bearing on actual age.
