It always seems like brands do the “scattered” color layout to kind of mask having near repeat shades in a palette. I like your version way better, it hits a lot more of the “fresh” vibes

A helpful trick for these mega palettes where the shades are scattered is to group four shades in a 2x2 square and approach the palette that way. It gives you both neutral and colorful mini color stories without having to think much

I was so confused over the color story on this one. I agree, the layout is not cohesive to me and they used too many neutrals. Feels like they could have made this a lovely 12-15 pan palette or more colorful. I was not interested before and I’m still not now. I was instantly drawn to this palette when I saw photos of it and I will definitely pick it up when it's included in a sale at some point. I agree the colours look scattered around the palette and although I think that's how I got interested in it (because it made the greens stand out), I do like your mock up too. Both are winners.

Sometimes it takes a rescue/adopted dog time to feel secure in their new home & relax enough to show their true personality. When we first brought my girl home she was so timid & just raising your voice would send her running for her crate. She was also very insecure & like velcro with me. Would follow me everywhere, I couldn't be out of her sight. If I closed the bathroom door she would get upset. 15 years later & she's so chill & independent it isn't funny. I think it took her a few weeks to a couple months to really settle in & become secure knowing she was part of the family. This palette is so pretty & caught my attention with its color story. The photo I originally saw made it look like it had more pink/mauve shades in it. I will have to rewind the video & look at your swatches again. I tend to agree with you regarding placement/arrangement of shades. Usually when I make my custom palettes I try to arrange the pans in columns or rows so I can easily see 3 mattes that will work together (light,med,dark) & the shimmers that will play well with them. But I usually make smaller 9 pan palettes. In a big palette like this I would have appreciated quad groups at least.

I absolutely love your version!! That blue shade would had me standing by the mailbox!!! Lol. I also like the one released… it works for me. When I go for a weekend away from home, I rather take a palette with neutrals and pops of color. But let’s push Colourpop x Amanda!! I would totally buy it!! I like it. I think there are a lot of people that are into make up and have all the palettes and every release seems the same to them. I own like 4 or 5 palettes and I only have the it's a mood mega palette. Obviously if you buy everything that comes out, little to nothing's gonna seem exciting. Also, I love the duochrome shades, sometimes I buy them just for those, in fact ordered recently only the duochrome and the shifty ones of the BYOP and they were all amazing, I love them. For those not liking the layout, the shades can always be popped out and rearranged. I have Solstice and Wild Nothing which have my all time favorite shade of green shimmer. So I'm good but it is pretty!

I'm not sure how I feel about adding the blues to the palette but I think I would have liked some more yellows in it and certainly more green mattes. Also adorable pupper story 🐶 I get where you're coming from my dog's rescue and at first she did not like to be touched or petted so the first time that she like came up to get pets made me tear up.

I completely agree about the super shocks in palettes, but they weren’t like that at first. The ones in Sweet Talk and in So Jaded are so beautiful and sparkly (and mine still haven’t dried out.) I feel like most of the ones since the have been pretty lackluster. Definitely glad to see no pressed glitters though.

damn.... ok i need the limelight palette now. I really want this palette but your comparisons showed me i have most it... just missing the lime. another informative great video. thank you! Also I love your story about maggie. My dog was a rescue too. A pure bred cocker spaniel they found wandering around the streets. She was pregant when they picked her up and she sat in the animal shelter for 4 months and no one adopted her. That animal shelter was going to euthanize her before another one stepped in and took her and 4 other dogs which was where I found her. When I first got her, her tail was always tucked so far under her legs and wrapped under her belly. You could tell she couldn't even raise it cuz the tail muscles were so atrophied. Little by little, she started wagging it low and under her...8 years later she can actually lift her tail and wag it and it's my pride and joy. I just feel like she feels so safe and happy now and like she doesn't have to constantly brace for abuse or harm. Such a sweet gentle little thing. I love her so much.
